Root [Sprint/Cricket] Stuck

MusicJunkie

Android Expert
This is just a ranting post, nothing really helpful (so far) from the OP, lol.

I am stuck on what ROM I want on my phone. Stock is cool but I want JB!! These are the things I want in a ROM:

-Touchwiz
-Jelly Bean
-Constantly working MMS/Data
-No bugs
-Smooth
-Great battery life
-No themes (I hate when devs theme their ROMs and provide no stock look)
-More I can't think of at the moment

Anyway, what I'm trying to say is I've tried EVERY ROM for the S3 that is out right now. AOSP does a great job of providing JB, butter, great battery life, but there are bugs that either haven't been worked out yet or just randomly pop up and sometimes MMS or data doesn't work O_O.

Touchwiz based ROMs are good at providing, well, Touchwiz, constant working MMS, smooth (better than Gingerbread), good battery life, and cool features. But all of the Jelly Bean builds have bugs that are being worked out. Most of which usually only occur on my phone (lucky me right? LOL).

Soooooooooooooooooooooooooooo, anybody GOOD suggestions? I haven't been keeping up with every ROM that I've flashed. I mostly look at CM10, AOKP, ParanoidAndroid, and looking out for anymore leaks. Anything else I stopped paying attention too now. Maybe you guys have been paying more attention to the ones I stopped looking at, .

Thanks!

Dood, why havent you tried the jellybean blazer rom I posted the other day? It looks bone stocm and is fast as hell with an awesome battery life!! Oh, just be sure to disable svoice with a double home button press. Youll not be sorry!!!

I had it installed before you posted lol yea I know about he S-Voice thing. I disable that every time I set up a TouchWiz rom. It sucks

Whats wrong with this rom? Its been flawless for me so far. The only reason I switched to it from the ics version is cuz I wanted a full version of google now

Not in this case. It was caused by an app, not from a hack or mod. And it was only once. If the rom reboots on its own period, I don't keep it. All of my installs are clean and I check my downloads and transfers before installing. Something in LIH doesn't like my phone.

I unrooted today and went all the way back to LEN. I was reinstalling apps and low and behold all of the updates started pushing. After installing everything and setting it back up the way I liked, I accepted all the updates. Crazy thing, I ended up getting the LJ7 OTA . Giving my experience with OTA's I'm usually on the latter end of receiving one, never this close to an official push. It is the same exact thing. I think XDA and Android Forum have both taken up quite a bit of my time, lol. No more flashing for a while. If I randomly check the forums I'll answer any questions as best to my ability.

So I've been on the fence to unroot and go back to stock rom to get the official updates.
I'm running freeza's LJ7. Is it worth it?

The 'leak' that he posted is the official rom from Sprint. I was running stock LJ7 for about 3 (I really forgot, lol) days before the official announcement of the OTA's release date and it is the same. It just feels that things run differently when there is superuser and busybox. I might be wrong but that's how I'm seeing it.

The reason why I ever rooted (even for the OGEvo) was to get better battery life and add cool features (for the EVO, especially, to change the rom - sense got boring) and back up app data.

If you dig the "Nexus" look or MIUI or all of those AOKP/ParanoidAndroid tweaks, then I would say it's not worth it. If you just want a stock experience and don't care if your apps are backed up, then you could say it's worth it. It's all subjective.

One thing I do lose is the security that I can just nandroid back to a previous setup just in case something screws up or use Titanium Backup Pro/My Backup Root Pro (is that the name? ) to backup app data or freeze an unruly app.

But I'm just forcing myself to not flash a rom almost every other day by doing this  :p

Okay....................

My unrooting hiatus didn't last that long.

Stuff started acting weird sooo I re-rooted and flashed a ROM.

Gotta a problem?? :secruity:LOL :D

EDIT: Crazy thing. When I unrooted and updated via Sprint all the way to Jellybean, some things were running sluggish and felt jerky. As soon as I rerooted and flashed the full odex Jellybean everything got faster. Go figure
