Root [Sprint/Cricket] Unrooting Help

Hello all.

I had a rooted Galaxy s3, and decided to unroot it. I found a reliable guide and followed it to the T. I flashed the stock firmware in odin, and everything returned to stock. However, my messaging does not work! Also, it keeps asking to install an update, and everytime it attempts to install, it goes into an installation page and reads that the install failed. i dont know what to do now, is there any help/suggestions anyone can offer? Thank you guys so much

Unrooting, no. Factory resetting, yes.

Yes and no. When I unrooted back in early Aug, I didn't have to factory reset :/. They must've changed it now

EDIT: Unrooting doesn't wipe anything unless you factory reset/data wipe on your own.
