Root [Sprint/Cricket] Update help

I recently rooted my phone and I am very new to this. I have a samsung galaxy s3. I rooted my phone just to install titanium backup and freeze/remove bloatware. Now my phone says it has an update. I know I shouldn't use the standard update, and that I need to update radios(?) and the rom. I know to flash a rom I boot to clockworkmod recovery and install from sd card>choose the file, so once pointed to that I think I can handle that by myself. But what about the radios? Also, in searching I read something about OTA, I do not know what that means. When I rooted my phone I didn't lose any data, will I when I flash another rom (the update)? I have a new Ti pro backup today. Also, have I got it right? Boot to recovery, choose the proper rom, done with rom part? Any help would be greatly appreciated, the people here are just the best.

When your rooted, you don't want to take any OTA updates. Even if you try it'll fail each time because of your custom recovery.

What you'll want to do is locate a rom/radio that's based off of the latest OTA update

If you want to stay 100% stock, this should do for you:

Only worry about downloading the rom and the firmware.

But flash the way you was describing above.

Hey thanks a LOT! I actually spent a bunch of time hunting and I got the firmware and rom updated right after you posted, I have MD4 now. So new question, now that I did that, will it stay updated if I, say, flash this chameleon OS firmware? How to update Sprint Samsung Galaxy S3 SPH-L710 (d2spr) to Android 4.2 2 Jelly Bean using Chameleon OS custom firmware It purports to make your phone run much faster, you think it's good? I'm ready to try out a new rom, something that will make my phone run faster and use less space. Any recommendations? Thanks for answering!
