Root [Sprint/Cricket] What is the best/most efective/fastest ROM?

I am ready to make that move. First time. I have rooted two other phones with help from SF, but never ROM'd before.
My situation:

- I am using metro PCS service on an unlocked Sprint Galaxy s3

-I cannot download MMS messages through my text messenger (No photos)

-I keep getting "Install updates" messages and it driving me crazy

I'd be really happy with a ROM that had a super simple design, no crazy skull monster graphic theme, and one that made this great phone work faster.

Any ideas?

If you want to stay on touchwiz, MOAR and The People's ROM are my two favorites

That's absolutely true.

But we can still suggest some solid, stable ROMS to get him started

If you're a TouchWiz fanatic (which I don't know how anyone could be) - try out The People's ROM, BlazerROM, or MOAR. Those are typically the fan favorites. However, if you're looking for a more stock Android experience.. I would recommend either going with CarbonROM, RootBox, or Euroskank.

It hasn't been mentioned yet, but for touchwiz, Wicked Sensations is definitely a winner for me
