Root [Sprint] Factory Reset

I need to do a factory reset on my phone. When I do this, is the phone going to stay rooted?

Yes if you do the reset through the custom recovery .

But you are rooted . a custom recovery is the twrp or clockworkmod . you may want to view rooting before you damage your device. Just feel free to look at this

I've been thinking about switching to Cyanogenmod anyway, and this may be the time to do it. Where can I get the most up to date, stable version of the Galaxy S4 SPH-L720? Is there a simple, step by step guide? What will I be losing from Touchwiz?

Yes lost of touchwiz if you go with cyanogenmod . but if you like just try another launcher such as nova prime very nice if you ask me .
There are no extra steps to getting cyanogenmod on the device just clear data cache etc and flash a stable custom rom
