sprint hero temporary battery fix?

I was looking through threads, and i saw one that states that sending a sms message would not successfully sleep the phone..

My question is, if i used TaskPanel's auto kill feature on the sms application, would this be a slight fix?

The stock Messages app getting stuck and keeping the phone awake has been fixed from the maintence release updated that was pushed out last year. Now sending an SMS message should not have anything to do with poor battery life.
