Root Sprint Hotspot app

That's weird that it doesn't show up... are you sure its not there and just named something like...

com.sprint etc..?

I was hoping any of you guys knew the exact name of the apk so I could freeze it. It's no big deal though :)

speaking of, is there any way to turn on the wi-fi hotspot for the boost version of the ultra? i've tried looking through the build.prop and added the values i needed that should have turned it on. and i've tried various wifi hotspot apps, but to no avail. maybe there's an apk file that's missing? 0_o

I don't know if there's a built in way that works, but you could just use barnacle. It's available for download (free) in the market.

You need to be rooted with superuser, I would suggest CWM too for nandroid backup but its not necessary, better safe then sorry. Then download wireless tether. Then it all depends on what you need to tether to. Labtops and PC's ipads itouch and ipods are simple but PS3 xbox360 and Wii are a hassle but can be done

So that means i cant freeze it?

Sorry I just took a quick glance before, but there is a lot more than tethering in Settings.apk.

I just took a peek in the Boost version of Settings.apk and they have some of the sprint hotspot stuff in there. If it's not always auto starting on a boost phone, maybe you can compare the two and edit out the part making it start.

I don't tether much but when I do, I use the native sprint hotspot app.

Yes but thats againts sprints policy so we arent aloud to talk bout it...

Are we really not allowed to talk about that? Isn't rooting your phone, manually changing your PRL, and disabling throttling also against Sprint's policy? We talk about all those things. :D
