Help Sprint htc evo 4g email problems

Do you know how I can find out if my contact pics are saved?? I just looked at my google contacts and I have no pics listed to the contact information. I'm assuming I would if I had pics right?? If not, is there any way to import them from my phone before I do the reset???

hmm...I see what you are saying...I assume you have your gmail on the phone synced with your google account? And your contacts that are on your phone are in your google account?

You said you looked at your google contacts on your computer (?) and no pics there huh? odd...

I'm thinkin here as I type...........I know you can export your contacts from your phone to the sd card....but when you go to import them after the reset, you may end up with double contacts but, it may save the pics of your contacts, then go to gmail on computer, go to "find and merge duplicates" and fix from there.....
 
Yes, for the first time I actually looked at my contacts on my GMAIL. There are no pics. Obviously, then they're all on my phone. I'd like to keep them. I'm online right now as you're "thinking".... I'm going to try that and get right back to you.... I pulled up my PEOPLE folder on my phone and it gives me the option to
IMPORT from SD Card or Export to SD Card.... Not sure what to do now as I'm hoping to keep the pics....???

Try this, add a contact...assign a pic to it...export to sd card....delete contact...import that contact to google...see if pic comes back....
Again, I'm just thinking and trying to see if the pic saves :)

Ok so I'm really dreading this full reset.
I did however export my contacts BOTH from my phone and gmail. Those were the 2 accounts it listed once I was in my CONTACT folder. I did both because I was thinking that the contacts under PHONE might be the ones with the actual pics.....??
Hopefully I didn't make it worse..... I can't believe how frustrating this all is... I'm so worried that my calendar won't update as well..... UGH!!
 
Ok I'll try what you're saying... I'm going to add a fake contact and assign a pic.. I will save it through google as it always asks Google or phone. THen I'll export it to SD card. Delete it and see if it pops back up with pic... I think that's what you're asking....? Trying it now...

Did you check online about your calendar if it matched what was on your phone?

yes, I just tried it and I cant just export 1 contact...look like (at least for me) it's all contacts or none..then again, I'm on a different rom.
 
o.k..check this out...I tried something.
I exported all my contacts to my sd card.
then I went back and deleted 3 contact pictures.
I then imported all contact back to phone.
Yes, now I have 2 of everything, but, I have the pics back for the 3 contacts. (1 contact with a pic, one without)

However, I went into gmail and ran the "find and merge duplicates". I had to run it like 4 times because it didn't merge all duplicates in one shot. And I lost the 3 contact pix. It mustve not merged the pix even tho I had a duplicate of it. follow?
Still trying buddy :)
 
o.k....sorry...me again :) I'm on a mission now :)
So I think my experiment with the export/import does save the pic....it just duplicated contacts on my phone, but you wont have duplicates after you reset.
 
I'm here and I'm listening!! I'm going to re-read your post again right now...... I've been playing around with it too.... Standby and thanks for your help!!! I will now re-read your post in hopes of knowing what they mean. I CAN export one contact at a time... I don't know if that helps.....??
 
I am listening to what you're saying and preparing to do the inevitable reset! One thing I noticed is that when I used my phone as a disk drive to my computer, I found that .MAIL folder and it still had 94 MEGS on it!!!! I deleted it.... Yet after unplugging from my laptop, I still had the mail Icon on my phone and it still showed the 94 MEGS. So I'm unplugging the battery and restarting..... Just figured I'd try something.... So, now I'm on to reading your posts!!

Ok I'm a little slower at this than you are obviously.. So I'm having to try a little more "trial and error".... What I mentioned before did NOT work... So now I'm trying what you put as far as the Contact Icons.... I'm going to try that in a few minutes as well.... I'm starving too!

I dont understand why your contacts on your phone don't sync the pix also to your google/gmail account? Is your sync on? Edit: strike that...I think you deleted your gmail account off your phone?
Go eat something and take a break...I usually think better on a full stomach:p

I just got done making a copy of all my photos and what not. Even before tonight when I deleted the gmail from my phone, I did not have any contact pics on my laptop when I logged onto gmail. All the contacts are there, but they do not have pics.....
So, I just made a copy of all my photos.... I tried deleting the mail app via laptop and nothing has changed...... So frustrated. Finally, now I'm reading into your other replies more closely.... Lemme see how confused I get.....
 
Oh, and btw it looks like my online google calendar is synced with my phone. That's the first time I've ever clicked on the calendar link from my laptop so I'm pretty sure that will sync back up....!
 
Sorry for the repeat posts.... Have you heard of HTC Sync? When I was on customer service, they told me to download sync on my laptop..... I downloaded it, but I'm not even sure what exactly it does.....? Looking at that in addition to yours as well.... I started the fake contact and tried exporting it to my SD card and then deleting the contact. But I thought once you delete the contact, it will then just delete off the SD card......??

I have never used htc sync so I cant help you there. I use google and gmail exclusively....
The contact will stay on the sd card even if you delete it off of your phone or gmail....think of the sd card as a different storage site.

Edit: I could wipe my phone clean and everything on the sd card will be intact.

And now I'm noticing as I try a fake contact in addition to the other ones I added that I DO NOT have the option of sending it to my SD card now? Am I missing something??? UGH Seems like I do NOT have the option of exporting the contact now to my SD card..... Completely lost....

Your end result after you factory reset is this: (correct me if I'm wrong)
1. You want all your contacts and any pic's associated with them back. (and at this point, the contact pic's are on your phone but cannot see contact pic's on computer gmail)
2. You want your calendar events back.
3. You want to be able to set up gmail, hotmail and yahoo mail on your phone.
And you want a double cheeseburger with large fries :)
