thats odd i did nothing but called VM and told them it was simply a vm phone (it wasnt , it was a sprint phone) and after some reprogramming the tech support guided me through*, we had it activated for use with VM service.. crazy how thats illegal though. someone should fire that tech guy huh?
If he cloned the MEID from another device that is illegal yes. If he allowed your device to work on VM's system, then no it isn't. Any chance of a shot of the screen with the network name?

That's not a correct interpretation of the relevant law. The law reads, in part:

Whoever knowingly and with intent to defraud...possesses a telecommunications instrument that has been modified or altered to obtain unauthorized use of telecommunications services;
To break the law you have to BOTH modify an end device AND use/give/sell that device with the intention of using services without paying.

If you own both the donor and recipient device, have a valid carrier account and are paying for service, you are doing what is described in legal circles as "acting with intent to be a lawful, paying customer."

Okay, mod warning was to discontinue illegal discussion awhile back... it seems we've returned to said discussion. It's illegal. Against the law. Against site policy. The mod said he'd lock the thread. I'm making good on his word.
