Sprint HTC Hero Bar Code Scanner Problem

I have downloaded the Barcode Scanner app from ZXing team. Have tried to scan 10 items - no luck. Same app works fine on Samsung Moment. Anyone have any advice? thanks!

Some apps just dont work as well on certain phones as others. I had this app when I first got my Hero and it worked fine.

I have since moved on to Shop Savvy since they added QR code support and it is an overall better program. You might want to give that one a try and see if that works for you.

Works perfectly on my phone, what problem are you having? It won't come back with a reading every time, but usually does.

Does not work with either one. I have tried both BarCode Scanner and Shop Savvy. I get the barcode in the required box, but nothing happens. Have tried about a dozen times. help!

my hands dont shake. I can pick up the Moment and scan a barcode. Then, for the same barcode, the Hero does not work.

Is there some setting on the Hero camera that I need to change?

I have both scanners on my Hero and they work without any issues. I haven't changed any camera settings for them to work. You might try deleting them and download them again. I have read that some people have to do that from time to time. Hope that helps and works for you.

Same here... Barcode Scanner works perfectly on my Hero with no issues at all. And I'm scanning things all the time, from QR codes to UPC product codes.

I agree with the option of completely deleting the app and reinstalling it from the market just to clear out any possible corruption.

i am very embarassed to admit this ... But I will in hopes that it might help someone else.

My camera on the Hero still had a small piece of plastic from the packaging. That blurred the camera lens and messed up the scanning. Once removed, it all works just fine

Thanks to everyone who replied to this post.

You, sir, are a brave and honest soul to admit this on your own thread! ;) I applaud you - most would have just disappeared into the ether. :D

I had the same problem; I found the answer on these boards. I wiped the lens of my camera clean. After that my problem was solved. I know, I know, I felt dumb afterwards, but hey, it worked. I hope this helps.

Ever since I got my Hero I've been pretty addicted to finding and scanning QR Codes. I hear they're big outside the U.S., and they're catching on here now with all the smartphones around.

I'm so hooked on these that I wanted to totally geek out and get a QR code on a t-shirt...so I ended up creating a site to generate QR Codes using the Google Charts API, and pass it along to Zazzle using the Zazzle API to make the t-shirts! Check it out: QRCNow!

haha i like that software! i think this one would make the best one for a girl's t-shirt
