Sprint HTC Hero

I want to buy an Sprint HTC Hero off eBay and use it but I can't figure out a way to get my number on it without Sprint putting it on. Is there way to do that without having Sprint do it?

Hmmm, yeah, you can reprogram the ESN but technically that is illegal, lol.

Why would you not want Sprint to activate it?

probably trying to flash it and use it on metro? but metro sucks
