Root [Sprint] Internal Storage Discrepancy

When checking Settings -> More -> Storage, it's showing 7GB left on internal storage.

When updating, uninstalling or installing apps, Google Play flashes a notification that says that I have ~600m of internal storage left.

What gives??
 
I started noticing a similar message recently - no clue what that is. (not sure if it is from google play though)
