Sprint is the cheapest? What am I missing...

But you only have 300 minutes, not Unlimited minutes. And you don't even get Nights & Weekends. And Virgin Mobile is Sprint anyway, just Sprint's prepaid brand. And the Samsung Intercept is pretty outdated phone, not to mention it's only EV-DO Rev. 0

I think people are saying Sprint has the best deal of the MAJOR CARRIERS, not minor regional carriers and prepaid carriers.
 
I have been with Sprint/NEXTEL for over 10 years and aside from the sell sell sell BS their rates are pretty good.

Just got a Sanyo Zio (cmon' 2.2 Fryo) for $99.00 with NO mail in rebate since I was a business account! I read on an Android site that the Zio was offered FREE with a 2-year contract...ABSOLUTELY NOT TRUE...according to Sprint. This could not be readily validated through the website either!

I am a business customer and for Unlimited Everything I pay $89.99 period! Non-Businesses pay $99.99 for the same plan. Pretty hard to beat in my opinion. Verizon, although admitedly better coverage which I don't need is about $30.00 higher for the same plan.

For those of you in a Cricket market (lowest rates I've come across to date), you would pay only $59.99 for the same thing.

True - Sprint is the best if you want it all in one package and Unlimited at that....Also Sprint is the best for Family Plans with kids who want to Text, Facebook and Twitter - ALL DAMN DAY!
 
Can't believe how many posts there are about who has the best deal between Sprint and AT&T, or any other decent provider, It's basic math!

I think you are overreaching here.
Virgin is monthly prepay with no charges for roaming or long distance even possible.
Virgin plan includes Unlimited data.

Although Virgin's $25/month only includes 300 min, their $40/month plan includes 1200 min and is still cheaper than Sprint's 450 min plan also with unlimited data & texting.
If those extra 750 minutes are enough to cover the cell to cell and night and weekend minutes you use each month on Sprint, than the Virgin plan is cheaper.

The ONLY thing Sprint has over it at that point, is the ability to roam onto Verizon's network. (And better phones)

But, for the roaming and use of an Epic or Evo, you will pay $1000 over 2 years. Is it worth that?

Nowadays, most prepaid monthly plans are cheaper than the major carriers. And Virgin Mobile is owned and operated by Sprint, making Sprint the best deal in both the prepaid and postpaid arena. Virgin Mobile can't have anything over Sprint because Virgin Mobile IS Sprint.

Virgin, like Boost and others, is a MVNO carrier who buys spectrum from Sprint or is a Sprint subsidized brand that reaches out to pre-paid folks. Nothing wrong with that, if it worked perfectly.

Reality is the pre-paids often are treated as second class citizens on Sprint's network. If Sprint's towers are busy, text messages on Virgin / Boost / others will get delayed. Browsing speeds will be slowed to a crawl. Phone calls may not get through.

If Boost / Virgin worked as well as the primary carrier - Sprint, I'd jump in a heart beat. But there are too many horror stories about things like this that make me wary. Reliability has a price for me. That's why I stick with Sprint.
 
Why are we comparing a major national carrier to small regional providers... and MVNOs that run on the same network as the national carrier they are being compared to?

Out of the 4 national major carriers, Sprint has the best deal when it comes to an Unlimited everything plan. If you don't care about minutes, T-Mobile might be cheaper. And you can actually get other plans that are voice or voice and text only with Sprint, ya know?

You're wrong Here - Virgin and Boost are fully owned Brands of Sprint/Nextel. Cricket Liberty Wireless and some other No Name pre-paids operate as MVNO's of Sprint. (Cricket is MVNO for EVDO only)
 
I'm amazed that the same arguments about Sprint's pricing simply aren't applied to VZW or ATT. Sprint's a distant #3 carrier, but that doesn't mean Sprint shouldn't charge what it can for the type of service it provides. I think Sprint's plans are priced just right in the wireless market compared to others. I wish they were all cheaper, but they're not.

I also understand that if I need something different from Sprint that they don't offer, I can just go to another carrier.

Interestingly, TMo is backing off it's Even More plans. They still offer them if asked, but they're clearly trying to wean them away from consumers.

$30 unlimited family text messaging
$25 x 3 for 2 GB data plan

$205 compared to $150 for Sprint. Same services. Apples to apples.

Good for you. I left ATT when Evo came out and have been nothing but pleased. I haven't dropped a single call (dropped them every day in the Philly-NJ-NYC corridor). Haven't had issues anywhere on the east coast. Even better, my wife and I are paying over $75 less with 2 Evos, 3000 mins, and getting unlimited data.

My fave moments though come with friends with iPhones. I love it when they tell me about what the iJoke can do, and then I ask them to DL some huge files for me. Of course, they object because it's a data hit. I laugh, then I say I don't worry about data on Sprint.:cool:
 
My son has iPhone4. But I cannot see staying with AT&T for smartphones. The 2GB plan sucks.

Verizon is as pricy. T-mobile has phones I like but not sure about coverage.

ask people in your area.. about service with sprint and tmobile... which has better service...

also.. sprint has a 100% money back guarantee.. 30days.. to try.
 
TMo's not good if you travel much. Once you get outside major metros, good luck getting signal and data.

Pretty hard for anyone to find a better bang-for-buck than Sprint with any 4G phone that works on Sprint's network. Even when ATT & VZW add LTE, it's not going to make them less expensive. Think they weren't thinking of LTE when they put in tiered data plans? That 2G can come up in less than a week if you're actually using the phone. People are going to have cows when they see the cost of using LTE on those networks!
 
The fact that Sprint does Not charge you for all the little things really makes a difference. With Sprint, you can basically use every feature of the phone (except wireless tether) and it is included in the 69/79 dollar plan. Truly unlimited data, visual voice mail, Sprint TV, and GPS are a few that come to mind. I used almost 10 gb's of data each month for the last three months, that would have been about 150 dollars with VZW or ATT, maybe more! Plus the unlimted calling to any mobile phone on ANY carrier. There is really no comparison here, Sprint is less expensive--hands down.
 
I've been with Sprint a long time and I can tell you guys things haven't always been this rosey. They've always been a little cheaper though and have the best coverage for my area so I've stuck with them for something like 12 or 13 years. Through that I've had crappy phones and terrible customer service but stuck around for the forementioned reasons. It's just been in the last few years that they really have turned things around in the phone department. I don't know why it took android coming around for them to realize it but they are finally up to par with the other carrier and I still have coverage and a cheaper bill. Getting a 24% discount through work doesn't hurt either.

Good points, I think it was more than Android though (although it was a big help). I think the company as a whole has made major improvements since the new CEO, and that Android helped everyone (most, anyway) see that.
And yes, They are pretty generous with discounts, too! Seems like the avialable discounts are endless depending on where you work. Hell, Theyll even give you 10% off if you're a AAA member or if you bank at a credit union.
Been with Sprint 10+ years, and I've been more than happy with the prices and network coverage.
