Sprint ordered me another shift.

So thanks to the fail date of 2.3 they ordered me another phone. It was a retail sprint store so what will I get. A refurbished or brand new htc evo shift 4g? They said it was free of charge so idk, what do you guys think?

Well, my experience with the knuckleheads at the Sprint repair center was a joke after my Shift 3G (EVDO) radio stopped working. They finally replaced it, but even though it was a hardware malfunction that should have been covered to get a new unit, they actually gave me a RECONDITIONED phone that had more service time on it than the Shift that broke! When they give you the replacement, you can type '##RTN#' on the phone app and see if the phone was 'reconditioned'. I just can't believe they replaced a hardware broken unit with a reconditioned unit. At least it didn't have any flaws as far as I have noticed, but I truly do not like the business practice of Sprint because of this evolution. Their customer service still SUCKS!

Actually, alot of companies do that now. Apple does that when they replace your phone. If anyone ever asked me about it while setting them up for repair or replacement, I'd have to say "it could be new or refurbished" knowing full well Apple doesn't replace them with new phones unless you go to the store itself.

So i got it today and well...... Its refurbished, the power button feels like someone spilt pop on it. Then with that there is cosmetic damage. Then to top it off, IT HAS 2.3! Got to love sprint.

I would imagine one that works is better than one that don't. Pop can be wiped off. We get the same thing from Dell and replacement monitors. Its not a new thing. Sprint has always been very helpful to me.

Thank you for that tip. I just got a new device yesterday and I thought it was actually new then I tried your short code and sure enough, it was reconditioned. Oh well, at least I have a working phone. I'm pretty sure all companies send out refusbished devices.

Pretty much. When I had to get my Shift replaced through Asurion, they sent me a reconditioned model that could never grasp 3G (no data unless 4G was enabled), and quit making/taking calls and texts after a week and a half.
To their credit, when I called them back (Sprint wouldn't hear of ordering me another phone to replace my Asurion replacement) and insisted on a new phone, they sent one.

Just had my shift replaced as well from sprint. The screen had just stopped wokring work up one day with the alarm going off and i couldnt shut it. So i took out the battery and went back to sleep. Little did i know at that point i had woken up to a malfunction nothing i had done. Anyway ive been with sprint for years sometimes it depends who you get on the phone but this time they really played with me eventually i got them to send me a replacement because the phones only 3 months old. They claimed to be sending overnight shipping they "sent it" thursday and i got it monday afternoon. sometimes their customer service just overall sucks
