Help Sprint PRL Updates Thread (Latest PRL 21090)

For anyone who may have tried the revert solution and it did not work :

I got to thinking about why it worked for me and not others. I not only had done the revert but also the proxy solution. As a part of the proxy solution you do hands free activation. Since this involves changing the data profile, I thought it reasonable to do at least the hands free after reverting because most people update profile and PRL together. I posted how to do the hands free in another forum and doing it after reverting brought back 3G for several people. I wanted to share because you all help me so much and I want to do something to contribute.

For anyone who would like to try the hands-free activation after reverting PRL, here are the hands-free only instructions (you must have your MSL) This will not wipe your data, but am including the obligatory "do at your own risk" statement. Anyway, here goes:

FIRST, make sure you are using the stock dialer and not a third-party one as the menus will not work (as I discovered the hard way... ;) ) Then...

Turn off your GPS. Dial ##3282#, and select Edit. Enter your MSL, then go to Data Profile. Push the menu button, then tap on Restore. Push OK to reboot. Allow the phone to go through hands-free activation, but WATCH YOUR PHONE CAREFULLY AND PRESS CANCEL WHEN IT BEGINS TO UPDATE PRL.
 
thanks for all the tips in this thread. had terrible 3g all weekend and after reverting back to the previous prl, got my 3g speeds back to up where they should be.

This saved the day for me!! Thanks again. :D

I had to update profile after doing above ^^^^ for mine to work. :confused:

I couldn't get rid of 50580, so I tried updating the PRL when connected to WiFi and it downloaded 21081 finally. After doing the DATA restore and skipping the PRL update my 3G speeds are back. :)

I did the same thing, though I didn't bother to skip the PRL update. Until I did the DATA restore, the PRL showed as changed to 21081, but download speed and ping was still horrible! But now my higher speeds are back and life is good.
 
1st of all, I want to thank everybody for adding their two cents to this thread. I didn't really follow the thread because & when I started it the last post I read was Pyrosporker suggesting not changing it, so I didnt. I'm rooted & my phone was on 1X more than a week but I didn't think anything of it because my PRL was & is still at 21080. Never went to 21081 or 50580. I didn't pay it any mind because I use 4G & wifi 95% of the time anyway & I remember there was a Rom I flashed with my last phone, it displayed 1x when it was really on 3G (confirmed with a speedtest of course) Only reason I questioned it was because Scott (dev of Cleanrom) put up a screenshot & he had 3G. I asked him about it & he pointed me back here. I followed Mr. Ed's steps as reposted by Marctronixx & I'm showing 3G now but I'm still at 21080.

Jeez I'm slow, I just checked one of my screen shots, I got one of my phone on 1x on 8/26/11
 
Yeah apparently sprint finally figured this out. My phone auto-updated the prl without notice. I was like wtf. I couldn't cancel the update. Checked I was still on 21081.
 
It's been a while since they updated I forgot about this thread, LOL Thanks Marc for moving it, I agree I would not put stock in 2 post, and I guess I didn't have a choice it updated itself before I know it, maybe that is a new ICS feature, because I never recall getting a message that said Update Service.
