Help Sprint replies to the screen separation issue.

If the lcd and touch screen are sealed off does this mean light may be able to leak out but dust cannot get in?
I think the sprint reply was something to the tune of the lcd panel being sealed off.

I dont know. Just asking.

But cant the brightness the lcd produces shine light through without their being an actual opening for dust? Like when you hold a flashlight up to you hand and you can see light leaking through on the other side of your hand. But nothing can truly pass through your hand...

If dust could get through should we have a lot of people posting dust under the screen pics in the bottom of their screens?

Again. I am not asking question i already know the answer to just to argue with someone on a message board. i am really curious if anyone knows if the lcd is sealed off so even if light leaked through then dust couldnt get in.

Interesting question? I'm curious as well, Is it sealed off? Yeah I have not seen one dust complaint???

I haven't had the issue yet, and I'm just approaching day 10 with my 2 Evos. That said, I'll be looking out for it before the 30 days, but it's also one of the reasons I added TEP insurance. I don't normally do it, but then again this is the only time I've ever bought the first-gen of any electronic device so I'll keep the TEP for 6-12 months then drop it if all's well.

What about water/moisture penetration? I know a lot of dust talk going on, but "pocket sweat" <--LOL, is a real issue in hotter southern climates. Even if the LCD is a sealed unit, the ribbon connection and PCB, I am sure, are still susceptible to moisture penetration.
The light leak is only the precursor to the larger image of Touch Screen separation. Once the edge of the glass is exposed beyond the protective edge of the case it can chip or crack that much easier. Along with the other concerns.
Also, a lot of people have been saying "Glue" failing that holds the Touch Glass on. I actually think it is more like a foam gasket with some type of tape adhesive. Not that I have any more knowledge on it than anyone else.
On mine I have a little light leakage under the search button and on the same side the touch glass is just above the rim of the edge. Not anywhere as bad as others, but I can see it getting worse. I also noticed that when I press on the corner of the glass I get the squished LCD rainbow ripple effect on the corner. This concerns me as well. Also my casing near the volume rocker controls is bowed out and warped. My wife's Evo is linear and clean. Hers was rock solid last week, but now has also developed the spongy problem on the right side near the search button. Still no heavy lieght leakage though.

HTC EVO 4G Teardown Reveals Battery Surprise - PCWorld

I pre-ordered and have used the phone heavily. And haven't had any issues with it..Hope it stays that way.

Holy crap. Just stumbled upon this thread and took my EVO out of its case and low and behold I have seperation too. I dont notice any light bleed or anything but this thing is going back. I didn't pre-order. I just walked into a sprint store on the 4th and bought one. Maybe thats the same thing.

Damn reading all about these screen separation issues is making me afraid to look at the bottom of my EVO lol. Thankfully, I see nothing wrong so far. Plus, while I'm out I have a protective case on it. I woudnt even notice. I will be checking before the 30 days are up.

I think overtime if you keep your Evo in your pocket you can definitely get dust\lint under your screen if you have a lot of light leakage. Looking at the tear down of the screen shows its basically just some type of glue holding the screen down over the LCD which tells me there are gaps between the screen cover and LCD. The person states how easy it is to take off the top off the screen if needed but its like ripping off the glue that is between the LCD and screen cover.

I've having the issue, but don't really plan to return it. With the case on it isn't a huge deal, and mostly just creates a little "click" on one of the buttons that's barely noticeable. (Yes, I took the case off to confirm it's actually separating).

I hope htc doesn't step-up the horse whipping their assembliers - raining assembliers from rooftops slows production as well as build quality.

So far so good with mine, I check it everyday.

Ordered June 4th online from Sprint as soon as the clock turned midnight.

My Evo box says Rev.A after the bar code on the bottom, but when I typed in my S/N on the HTC web site to register teh phone as mine, it came back telling me I had a "Supersonic-R2" any ideas or similarities between mine and others?

incase you have not seen my posts on the other topics, I have the light issue under the home and search and it can be seen in a well lit room, but the glass is level/flush with the bezel on the bottom and recessed on the top, it also pushes in more than 1mm when you press on it. Also my Evo just rebooted itself while I was typing this... never seen that before...

Has anyone experienced problems with the touch screen not being responsive when the phone isn't grounded (aka, being held/touched with your second hand?)

I am having that problem. It gets worse everyday. I have light leakage too. The unresponsiveness of the phone ia getting worse. Engadget did a article about it and it seems the people with droid incredibles are having the same problem.

I'm really dissapointed. Sprint doesnt even have one to swap me out with.

Anyone with separation issue order from Sprint.com on that first night? And get a return/exchange?

How does the return/exchange process work if bought online?
