I bought the Sprint Galaxy Tab 7" on Craigslist, so I don't have a contract and I'm only connecting to the internet via wifi and not 3G. Will it be an over-the-air update? If so, how will I be able to get it?
If not ota, where could I download it?
I don't have a Netflix account. Is there any reason for me to take this update?
Successfully downloaded and installed through the manual download link at xda. There are very subtle cosmetic differences between Froyo and Gingerbread (you'll notice the icons in the top bar right away). It seems like most of the improvements are behind the scenes, although there are some new toys to discover.
Once the file was downloaded and moved into the right directory on the SD card, the update was really simple. Took less than five minutes to complete, and all of my data was intact.
Over the next few days, I'll see if there's any noticeable improvement in the battery life. While already good at 2.2 (for my needs, anyway), I'm curious to see if it gets even better.
Netflix alone makes this update worth it.
Has anyone received the update through the automatic "push" to the Tab?

I also am not hooked up to 3G and only using wifi - just got the update notice today. I haven't downloaded it yet as I am at work but I will be as soon as I get home![]()
If you're rooted you might consider passing. There is currently no way to root 2.3.4 update.
