Sprint Update to 4.4.4

I got my up-grade this morning, 381.85 mb.
It's Kit-Kat 4.4.4!
I don't see much difference, yet. But I did notice that the GPS when in my truck was a 1/2 mile off.

Lateck,

Just updated. It did take 30 minutes..... LOL.

So far the only difference I see is a thicker swipe trace..

Anyone find any release notes that tell us what all it does?

One thing that changed is the Active Applications widget. I kinda prefer the old widget. The new one is a fully solid color. I'm more into minimalist type widgets, so I may end up removing the widget now.

I noticed that if I enter the phone number of a contact in the dialer without using the area code, it will dial the number in the area code I am in, but show the contacts photo. Is this Sprint or Samsung that screwed up?

Example:
Dan is stored as 312.555.1111 I live in the 607 area code. If I enter 555.1111 the phone shows Dan's contact and photo, but when I hit the green call button, it calls the number my area code and shows a pic of Dan. Wrong number ....

Typically, if I'm calling one of my contacts, I use the associated numbers to spell out their name and then click on the contact that shows up. I've got over 300 contacts, so it's difficult to remember everybody's contact number. And, when it gives multiple possibilities, clicking on the tab that comes up, then pops up a secondary window where I can select the proper contact.

Also having this issue it is extremely frustrating. Note 3 is overlooking the area code and just picking the number.

This Sprint "update" utterly and completely borked my Note.

After spending 35 minutes downloading it runs to 100% on the install routine, then shuts down after reaching 100% and starting install.Just freezes and goes poof.

Have to pull battery to get it to start, and it says "Recovery Booting" and goes right into update install again.Runs to 100%,begins install again, and dies.

I can go into Odin, for all the good that does me.

Any suggestions?

I always use Samsung Kies for my patch downloading. Try that if over the air isn't working for you.

Samsung Kies works for devices that are rooted and can't be updated OTA because of it being rooted.

I received it a few days ago......
There are some issues. My GPS is acting up and I can not find "Developers Options". I have read that others have been having Wi-Fi problems along with e-mail issues.
I'm not sold on 4.4.4 (or maybe it's Sprint).

Lateck,

I got the update last night and was seeing the "Unfortunately email has stopped working " message.

I read through the Sprint support Web pages and saw a reply from their support to enter ##72786# on the phone keypad to initiate a series of updates.

The phone indeed ran through updates, including reactivation. This did not change the symptoms.

I only have Gmail, and the Gmail application worked fine, but the built in email app would hang when opening, and I would see the error message periodically.

I went into setting, selected the "All" tab and scrolled down to the Email app. At first I did a clear cache, but that didn't fix the problem. I went back to the same place and did a clear data, which resets everything, including removing any email accounts you have previously configured.

The Email app would then open normally with no hang or delay. I readded the email account information, and all is good now!

Just remember to set up any configuration customizations you may have had previously, like signatures, etc.

Threads merged. Carry on. :)

I need help, Email is not working now and phone calls are not coming through always

Welcome to the forums, swimny!
Have you tried a factory reset after the update? Often that can solve bugs like this.

Since the Sprint update I noticed an unusual amount of calls going directly to voicemail. It appears the ringer volume keeps zeroing itself out and the calls go answered and into voicemail.

I'll manually raise the volume back up but the next call it goes back to zero.

#$%@#$&^%! Sprint.

Has the situation changed? Just noticed that my phone might be doing the same exact thing consistently, especially when in low coverage areas.

I take it back. It happens when the phone is in standby (e.g. black screen) and a phonecall comes in. I just tested it at work. My phone didn't even ring or wake up, when I tried to call from my landline.

I think I was able to troubleshoot the issue with phone calls not coming in (at least for me).

There is something broken (after the update) with the "pop-up" notification for incoming calls. For those that don't know what that is, it's a little pop-up window that comes up (rather than the entire screen) for one to answer the phone, when you're in the middle of doing something on your phone. I absolutely loved this setting, until now. When I turn that off, phonecalls come in without any issues, when the phone is on standby. When I enable it, that's when calls will be ringing, but they don't actually get sent through to the phone. It's so odd. I'm not sure I'm gonna go in to have this checked out, but...if someone else can try that out, to make sure that it's not isolated to my phone, I'd really appreciate it.

To enable/disable that option, go into the phone dialer. Menu>CallSettings>IncomingCallNotifications>Toggle box for "Show notification pop-ups for incoming voice calls when the screen is on".

In order to test, enable that first, put the phone on standby, and call the phone. The phone should wake up. After you've made that first attempt, go back to the call settings and turn the setting off. Then, put the phone on standby and call it again.

I'm leaving it off for now, as this is a deal breaker for me, if it's not getting my calls through to my phone.

Since the update, i too have problems with the email app not running properly. Add in my battery draining waay faster than it ever has despite not making any changes to apps and now none of my media apps, Amazon music player, PowerAmp, and Audible book app, work when I paired my Note 3 with my bluetooth headset today. What's funny is that they worked fine last night during my workout. I've tried uninstalling all 3 apps and reinstalling them and also deleting and re-pairing both blue tooth headsets that I use. I know both bluetooth headsets work fine bc they pair up with my Tab 3 tablet and work with the same media apps i have loaded on it. Anyone else run into the these problems too?(other than the default email app)

One of the things I dont like about this setting is it doens't show the callers pic- just the phone #. Having 400+ numbers in my phone makes this impossible for me to know who the call is coming from.

Really? Shows on mine, but I have Caller ID photos linked to certain people. But, still doesn't matter, if somehow it's preventing calls from showing up when the phone is on standby. That makes the option a dealbreaker (unless Sprint/Samsung fix the issue).
