Sprint vs Best Buy's insurance

I didn't read this whole thread just skipped to the bottom to give my 2 cents, I recently had palm pre Issues. The screen cracked so I went In and was told I had to go through insurance. I told him that it was cracked not wet so he proceeds to tell me that within the past month Sprint changed the policy...they only cover manufacturers defects and sometimes not even that. Anyways the manager did me a favor and swapped It for me after I threatened to move to Verizon. During the next 3 days went through 4 phones because refurbished sucks. Best buy gives brand new, and if when you take your evo In for a problem the evo2 is out, you get that. Best buy 1 Sprint neg 100!

IF ... An EVO 2 ever comes out .. Im pretty sure Bestbuy would not give you that for your Evo if you take it in for problems . They will tell you that is consider an upgrade and would not do it .. Either the same evo or another phone but not a new phone .. 3 Different bestbuy mobile told me the same thing.
 
So, if I purchase my phone from Best Buy (because I have a bunch of gift cards, etc for BB), can I purchase Sprint's Insurance separate and afterwards?

I heard of many people having issues with best buy. Htc has manufacturers warranty and Sprint protects against lost or stolen devices but best buy doesn't. Sprint was obvious choice for me.

Don't lose your phone. In the end, it all depends on how you plan on using it. I could see myself accidentally letting it slip out of my lap and break. The only way my phone will be lost/stolen is if I'm held up @ gunpoint. Remember that Sprint will charge a $100 fee if the issues were caused by an external event, whereas Best Buy does not. Also, Sprint has a limit to the number of claims per year, and after that you are SOL and they will actually deny coverage. Best Buy will repair it 3 times(or replace if needed) and on the 4th time you will get a new phone. If the EVO is no longer available, you will get a phone that is the SAME or BETTER up to the original cost of the phone.
