standard message app still running

Hi guys can anyone help me out here please?

I have instaled Handcent and gone into my standard message settings and turned off all ntifications and reports but when I check my app killer it shows it as still running all the time. Really annoying as it's extra drain on the battery.

Does anyone know how to cure this?

Don't.

Even when using handcent, the default app is what actually does the sms-ing. Think of handcent as more an alternative interface than a full blown replacement.

Also, bear in mind using a task killer is usually detrimental to your battery life. Most people don't recommend it.
