I had the exact same problem, only worse...For the first two months, no problems, no complaints, phone worked great...but then all of a sudden in one day i got a text saying "you've use 75% of your data usage..", then 85, then 95, then $10 over, then $50 dollars over...I couldn't figure out what the problem was. I called Telus, they credited me back because It was completely out of character (I'm a construction worker, not a 16 year old girl). Unfortunately technical support offered no solution. The problem persisted, 6 days into the month im over my limit, and didnt know what to do. I downloaded the netcounter app (while on wifi) and watched my data climb steadily. So I downloaded app killer, and as soon as I killed email, they data stopped. Not sure what the problem is, must have been an update or something. Motorola needs to solve this issue quick, because this is not what I paid for, nor was it an app I haphazardly downloaded. This is a default program which offers you the option to check your email from your phone. My email application used 700mb today. If you're concerned about checking your email, buy a blackberry or an iPhone. Actually I would steer clear of Android altogether. With issues like this, who knows what could go wrong next.
