Star I-93 (Alps I-93) Help!! boot loop after root SOLVED>>SOLVED

Hi Digital Controller, Still looping unfortunately, I am going to spend the day reading through the Russian forum as they seem to be more knowledgeable on Chinese phones.
The trouble I think is that so many Apps, and articles on the net are saying rooting a phone is an easy and useful thing to have especially for apps like Titanium Backup. And to be fair the rooting went perfectly, it was only days later when the battery went flat the problem arose. Also many forums have large sections for Chinese phones now like the N8000, Haipe, and even my manufacturer Star, so I hope to be able to resolve it eventually. I think the answer will lay in using the Flash tool or the software I rooted it with MTK Droid Tools, which can still access the phone. Some info that may help other owners of this phone, you get into ASR software as normal except, the list of functions will not come up until you press the sub menu key. Thanks for giving it some thought for me Digital Controller.

@ 500bhp
Welcome to Android Forums:)
Who is the manufacture of the device:confused:
@ Digital Controller you

Hey 500bhp, I had a busy night last night, went to a baseball game etc etc, anyhow, I am just interested in solving this problem and want to see your phone fixed!

Did you ever try putting a new battery in? Maybe the battery isn't getting enough charge to make it past the boot screen? I never really thought of it, but since the problem originated from the battery maybe the battery is causing it? Idk really, just an idea.

Hi the battery is fully charged, and even with the usb lead connected makes no difference.
I have been try reloading an image via ADB but it comes up with sdcard read only, when I try other commands like adb remount I get operation not permitted.

Hmm, thats weird that you aren't allowed access like that.

So let me just get an update, so when you connect the phone to your computer can you access the phone through there and drag/drop items or are you denied? and been loading stuff by taking the SD card out of the phone, plugging that into your computer and loading stuff on it like that?

Hi yes the only way to get anything on the sdcard is to remove it and put it in the computer, hence why i tried putting the update.zip on the card but get the signature validation fail when it trys to load it.
Using ADB is only possible if I boot into factory mode, I can get info off the phone but cant write to it, probably due to the fact its in factory mode.
I cannot access it via ADB while its looping, or ASR mode.

hmm, thats weird that you cant get into ADB, are you sure you can't you know hold the sound buttons up & down, then power up into recovery and access it via that.

And I am still stuck on your best bet being trying to somehow install CWM on that phone to save it.

Problem is, there's no CWM build for that phone. Someone will have to build one for him, and that's very risky.

Hi just to clarify as I said before I can get into ADB when the phone boots into factory mode, then using cmd on the comp.
I can access the ASR ( android system recovery) via booting and holding power and volume, but just cant get to accept a new image.
According to the net a phone based on a MTK6575 cpu cannot be bricked only soft bricked, and is always save able, ie when the phone was made they must have done the original programming on to a blank phone, so just need to find out how

I was afraid something like this was going to happen.

The options are limited, but the best might be to contact the makers or something just to see how to get yourself out of this 500bhp

Otherwise i can keep looking but who knows, its so hard to find anything on this phone

I have contacted guys in China, who are willing to reload the software, but unfortunately we pay a VERY high import dutiy for anything coming from China, it would end up costing more than the phone.
I have had an idea......if I was able to get hold of the same phone, is there any way I could copy its software and transfer it into my phone?

You could possibly copy system files and see if that would fix the issue, i never thought about it, but yeah that could solve it, IF you can get into the internal storage of the phone.

Is any one familiar with how the Flash tool works, for the MTK6575 why when you load the Scatter file, the last three files it has in the list to load ANDROID, CACHE, and USERDATA are not used?

And I found the answer here, Haipai Noble i9220 5.2 inch MTK6575 Android 4.0 Firmware, Custom ROMs! - xda-developers I have tried every combination, but here was the answer.
I flashed it with the firmware and img file from the first thread, using the Smart Phone Flash Tool not the Flash Tool supplied in with the download, which left the phone with a white screen, then reflashed it with my original copy from the phone when I rooted it....and bingo it burst back into life.

Thank you for your help on here guys.....I hope this helps anyone else with a Star I-93

Thanks for the info.
I am also trying to flash a Rom for this phone but cant succeded to install drivers.
I get the message "This device cannot start. (Code 10)",
I have windows 7 64 bit.

How and what drivers did you install.

Does the phone must be rooted before flashing?

BTW, did you find a CWM recovey for this phone?
I have heard you can make one with Mtk droid tools and other mtk6575 phone CWM recovery.

I used the same drivers on the XDA page, it does not need to be rooted, and not using CWM, as I said I used the pack on the XDA page the phone seems very closely related to the one on XDA

500bhp, I am so happy for you that you recovered your phone, I never gave up on you being able to find a solution to this problem.

Hopefully my information wasnt useless, as i tried to give helpful information while knowing little about your phone :p

Enjoy your phone and good job for staying at it and fixing it! :D
