Starlink

From the net: Starlink is a Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite constellation developed by SpaceX that provides broadband internet access worldwide. It uses a network of satellites in low orbit to deliver high-speed, low-latency internet to users, especially in areas with unreliable or limited internet connectivity.

Being low Earth orbit, they often reflect sunlight after nightfall. The picture below is an example. A link was shared on another site that predicts when such a visual might be seen at your location. I haven't tried it yet but plan to.
Here is the link: SpaceX Starlink Satellites Tracker

That's pretty cool. I might get starlink for the RV as campground WiFi and cell service is usually spotty at best.

Today at 9:22 I was suppose to have good visibility of Starlink-246 for four minutes. My view was to be close to the horizon West to South and I tried to catch a glimpse. The sky is clear tonight but I was in town with all of it's light pollution. I saw nothing besides the stars and planets. I have the same basic window to view the same satellite tomorrow night and if the sky is clear I'll get out of town to escape the light pollution.

Binoculars are a huge help for this sort of thing, and much better than a telescope.

I saw my first Starlink receiver panel recently in Tahoe. It looked like a fancy message board (though angled toward the sky) and I would have had no idea what it was but for a passerby who let me know. It is pretty cool looking…much more so than the Cybertruck. Not that that’s saying much!! ;) :D

im more curious about Project Kuiper from Amazon:

Unserved and underserved communities...like much of the Amazon region? ;)

I had a very nice telescope when my kids were young. Great fun was had when the sky was clear and it was a great hobby to share with them and created many memories. I sold the telescope when they out grew spending nights stargazing with dad. The big problem with viewing the heavens was it's nearly impossible to plan a viewing session because the weather so often ruined the occasion. Such is my starlink viewing window tonight. The sky is overcast so I'm home watching baseball on TV.

I just checked the prediction map. There are no good visibility windows listed for the next five days. I anticipate cloudy skies most of next week anyway with all the rainy days predicted. I've learned that patience is definitely a useful virtue when trying to observe space. I'll catch one of these reflection sessions eventually.
