Help Startup tone

Hello all, just wanted to ask about a startup tone on the desire.

Is there one? I love my phone to talk to me when I'm turning it on, kinda kinky that way. But is there a way to set a startup tone that I'm missing.

I did search, although maybe not too well.

Yes, and it's located at /system/media/android_audio.mp3. you might be able to replace that stock file with a different one but keep the same filename.

PS- you'll need adb (from Android SDK) and probably root, I'm already rooted.

Right so no easy way of doing it then.

It would make so much sense if I had a clue what you mean, but my techy-ness is weak Thanks but I'm not rooted, wouldn't know where to start or why etc Thanks for getting back to me though mate.

Yeah it's not going to be easy to modify it, it's read-only by default but techies can make it writable but with some risks. I use silent boot as I can't stand the bootup sound.

It's a bit (lot) cheesey but I wanted the darth vader sound clip "What is thy bidding, my master?" when the phone starts up.
