Root Static shock killed my screen?!?

Fighton

Newbie
I was charging my phone and when I touched it to pull it from the charger there was a large visible static spark. The screen went grey but the notification led was blinking green. I pulled the battery and cycled the power and I could here the sprint startup sound and then some notification sounds. My phone is rooted and now there is no way to unroot before I take it back to sprint. This is my second evo, part of the touchscreen went out back in November. In November I paid a $35 fee and sprint had a new (referb) delivered the next day which is what I plan on arranging tomorrow. When this phone is shipped back to HTC will they know or care that it was rooted?

not really if you are warrantying the phone and since it is a screen issue root should not matter

If the phone is shipped to HTC, they aren't going to care. The only people that care is Sprint, but if you cant see the screen, they wont be able to either. Anyway, take it to a sprint repair center, and see if they will replace it for free. Technically this isn't your fault, and should be covered under the manufacture's warranty, so you shouldnt have to pay for it. Just tell them this happened when you plugged it in.
