Accessories Steinheil Crystal Clear Protector Review

I received and installed my Steinheil crystal screen protector yesterday and it was very easy and clean. The protector is cut just a tiny bit smaller than the screen size so there's some room for error in the application. I applied it in a steamy bathroom, and as such there was only one dust spot that was trapped under the screen. That was easily removed by using two pieces of scotch tape (one to lift the film, and the other to pull off the piece of dirt). One minor quibble is that it it's not laying completely flat around the optical button. I've cleaned it several times, but it still isn't completely flat (most easily seen in the full screen, screen off picture). The bubble has become less noticeable as time has gone by, and perhaps it will disappear completely in a few days.

The surface is smooth - slightly smoother than the original surface, but not significantly so, and there is absolutely no orange peel at all. The screen is absolutely crystal clear, however it does pick up finger prints and oil pretty easily.

Attached are a few pictures so you can see what it looks like with the screen turned on, dimmed, and off. The 'banding' visible on the screen on pictures isn't in the wallpaper, and isn't visible to the naked eye. It's some sort of picture artefact. Enjoy!

yay actual pics bravo!

I am wondering if the "High Gloss Silicone Protective Cover" by Verizon will push up the edges of the Steinheil?

I tried it with a cheap ebay protector that was cut a little smaller than the glass and the orners of the gell case would push the corners of the protector up after a little use.

Has anyone tried using this case in black Enter your location with the Steinheil screen protectors?
Any issue with ithe case pushing the edges or corners of the protector up?

I really like the black version of this case. It is not very bulky and I think with help protect it if I drop it. It wraps a little around the top edges of the screen so it helps protect if you drop it face first on a smoth flat surface (not asphalt).

But will the Steinheil screen protector fit and not peal up when using this case?
Howabout the Zagg?

I am sure it will. I had the same case, put on the zagg and it pushed up the edges. I think those ones made for verizon do not take into account full face of the phone protectors. So I ended up purchasing the black fade to red case that clicks over the front too and all works. Actually I like the full case a little more as the face of the phone never touches a surface if I lay it on the face because the black fade case is slighly higher-- honestly I dropped the phone w/out a screen protector or case and after the battery and back flew off I decided I better get it protected. I like how the camera does not protrude out now too.

Yep, clear protector arrived on Wednesday, and applied it last night in the kitchen. Took about an hour until I was pleased with it. Because I didn't do it in the steamy bathroom, I had a few dust specks that I removed with scotch tape. One thing I wish I did first was remove the cut out for the optic joy stick before i placed the Steinheil onto the screen. It was difficult to get off of the button, trying to be super careful not to scratch the button ring. But now it looks great, like the pics from Gnahce. There were a few tiny lifted areas near the joystick last night, but now they have gone away.

btw, both CC and AF are back in stock currently. Better hurry if you're still looking to pick one up before they go out of stock again.

Ordered.
Question: I've seem some reviewers say that they have removed and reapplied. How do you do this? Did you clean them before reapplication? How?
I went through a whole pack of the VZW ones before getting it right, and those are probably much easier to apply than the Steinheil's.

In for answer.

Chapel Hill! Nice! I'm a Carolina alumni!

I had a Steinheil on my BB. It lasted the life of the phone.. which I had for over 2 years. It's still on there, in fact. Granted the BB wasn't a touch screen, but it had been dropped and abused, and over 2 years later it is still pristine. So they do last.

It is much like the regular glass, I thought, in regards to fingerprints, make up and oil. But that means it's also smooth like glass is too. The screen really does look naked when it's on, especially if you have a case because then you can't even see the minute gap between the protector and the screen.

I just finally ordered one for my Incredible today. I have been using the Zagg since when I got my phone it was about the only thing available right away. I think the Zagg is fine, but it does feel rubbery and definitely better than nothing. Nothing against the Zagg at all, I just prefer the look and feel of the Steinheil because it mimics the glass almost perfectly.

I own the gradient case. On a tutorial for a some protector (can't rememer which one), a tip was given to install with the case on to obtain proper alignment. Looking at the pics above (thank you btw), it doesnt look like that may be possible with these protectors. Anyone try installing with case on the Incredible?

Could someone please answer the following question:
What is included with the two protectors? Does it come with a microfiber cloth to wipe the screen clean with prior to installation?

Thanks :)

If anyone has an extra I'll pay pal you 6.44 for it if you throw it in an envelope and send it first class mail wrapped in a piece of paper. PM me. I already have the cloth and bubble scraper.

Anyone else experiencing THIS many bubbles on install?

i have no idea.. maybe??? haha i peeled off the blue one and as it and as the blue one pealed, i immediately applied the clear plastic part i was pulling it off from.... is that correct? I did it outside to avoid dust (that part worked) but it was humid. would humidity do that?

there's 2 protective films that you were suppose to remove. One side has the adhesive (big paper tab) and the other side with the smaller paper tab... you have to push out the bubbles with the included squeegee while you lay the film down too, which looks like the part you missed lol.
