Accessories Steinheil Screen Protector

God I hate hawaii.. 7 dollars shipping for that screen protector. lol.

I'll take my chance on ebay guy claims its "anti glare, anti fingerprint" and you get 2.

We'll see if this is crap, I normally don't but screen protectors off ebay because they are cheap! I'll post back when I get it in a couple days

Just an update for you guys, after the mishap with my Steinheil protector (too much dust) I ordered one of these guys in the mean time while the Ultra fine came back in stock (I have another Ultra fine on order).

Its definitely not anti-glare (maybe like 1% glare reduction over the glass screen) but seems to work good as a screen protector.

I came up with a cool idea to reduce the amount of dust that gets under though!

First step I took a 4" length of a bright green (no stick/no residue) painters masking tape, it put it on one side of the screen protector (with the backing STILL ON the protector)

Then position it exactly where you want it on the screen, and press the tape down. Now you can hinge the screen protector over to one side, and do a thorough cleaning of the screen (and the underside of the screen protector's sheet film)

Once its nice and clean, flip to the screen protector over and do one final dust removal on the screen. Without flipping the screen shield back over again (hold it just so you can get to the far side of the protective film, next to the green tape) start peeling the film off, and pressing it down.

This prevents any dust from falling onto the sticky screen protector, and the protector itself acts as a shield for the glass. Once its on you can gently peel the tape off. (Again, just a note, its not the standard green masking tape - which will leave residue - but a light green colored one)

I only have 2 pieces of dust stuck under the Ebay screen protector, both are at the very edges and do not affect the screen clarity at all!

Using this new method, Once i get my new "ultra fine" screen protector in from SGP, I'll post the comparative pics for ya!

Just a quick picture for ya.

Late to the party but my two cents. Yes I have the Ultra Fine and it's been on my Xoom for about a week. There is an adjustment period where you are transitioning from a crystal clear screen to one that slightly compromises clarity. But.....the glare was hurting my eyes so I went with this. I have the Crystal shield for my DroidX and very happy with it but wanted anti glare for a screen this big.

As matte shields go it is far better than the Boxwave that I had for my iPad. Glitter glitter everywhere and rainbows to boot. The SGP is not like that. Fingerprints are non existent and glare is diffused nicely. And I got a perfect application of this bugger (yes, I've done many of these shields before).

So, pick your poison. If glare/fingerprints on the naked screen doesn't bother you, of course do not get the Ultra Fine. But if you need an antiglare I'm not sure you can do any better than this. Screen clarity is actually better than I expected given my experience with the Boxwave. And you get very minimal 'speckling' and no rainbows. Good stuff.

I have waited so long to hear which protector was the best one that I am completely fine with a naked screen. I don't notice the finger prints at all now. Ill stay naked for now.

Just a quick tip on avoiding dust particles - don't lean over the device when applying in order to keep loose skin cells from falling onto the screen.

Alright, got my 2nd Steinheil screen protector today, went on perfect (except one little glitch at the very top right corner, I peeled it off without using tape and it bent a whee bit, will be hidden by the Otterbox if I ever get it :p)

(lets see if I can get all these image tags right....)

Okay I think I messed that up, THESE images are the Steinheil protector ones.

These ones are the factory Glass screen.

Lighting conditions were fairly similar (I was trying to get the images to go side/side but I think the web code didn't like that)

Okay, so overall the difference is HUGE. The lighting I used was meant to highlight the reflections, so you can see the Steinheil makes QUITE a bit of difference (especially in the first picture in the set).

The white background is there to show how little "rainbow/starburst" effect there is, you can tell there is a Teeeeny bit of distortion but so little that you get used to it fairly quickly!
