Root Step by Step Instructions on Setting up my building environment on a Mac?

I want to get into developing but i dont know where to start. im guessing i would have to set everything up first. Can someone please explain how?

Edit: Nvm I Seem to have the setting it up process started. How do i delete this lol?

how did u set it up? im trying to install ubuntu but it wont let me boot into usb

jarjar I have a great walk through of setting up your environment and build CM7 located on mtdev.us

I used VirtualBox, And installed Ubuntu 12.04. Is this correct g60? ;o

i installed it through virtualbox but the thing is it gets stuck wen installing android jdk i believe. after entering the last line for jdk it s unpacking java or something n sits there for an hour n doesnt move...so im not sure is it corrupted or anything

Mine got stuck When installing Ubuntu When it says "Copying Files"

& wait, I can do this with xCode? !

Yeah, you can.

Here is a link to the CyanogenMod site about doing this for an Evo 4g. HTC Evo 4G: Compile CyanogenMod (OS X) - CyanogenMod Wiki

You would need to change some of it like the repositories and all that. But I believe the rest of the basic setup would be the same.

The link you posted also has instructions for a mac, but I don't have one to test to tell you what differences there would be.
