Root Steps to grab OTA file after download, before update?

Couldn't find this info...where are OTA files stored on the phone/SD card when they are downloaded?

I have D2 and we may be expecting an update, and I'd like to be able to grab the file after the download.

I know I'm in the D1 forum but I expect the storage location is the same, and all the smart people are still over here.

they used to be on the sdcard as update.zip but with the first froyo update they are now in /cache instead of on the sdcard because you have to have root to access it. Not sure if phones with blur are the same or not. Blur updates are somewhat different. I know for sure that you cant get the update file location from a logcat like you can an update on a vanilla android phone.
