Root steps to root without update.

If I root now will the ota update window keep poping up?

Is this something Verizon will notice if I don't update?

Or am I asking these questions to soon?

I don't want to update and have the chance to loose root on this phone for the future.

there is a prereleased version of the OTA that is already rooted, if you do not take the ota, im sure verizon will know.. but not 100% sure on that, since alot of people are on older versions and dont know it.

if you put a froyo rom on, you will not see the OTA update pop up.

Yes I seen that. I just didn't know the consequences about the update poping up and Verizon finding out.

VZW doesn't care if you take the update or not. There are a few reasons why you wouldn't, some like the old version, some don't know there is an update, some don't want the update, etc.

The only thing VZW really cares about and frowns on is people messin up their phones with root and trying to pull a fast one on them for a replacement. They don't really care if you root and mod your phone. Just don't mess it up and expect a replacement.

Now this is not to say you can freely tell them you rooted your phone cause you can't. Rooting voids your warranty and they will not give you any customer services because of it.
