Root Still confused...please help.

Sorry in advance, but I need to re-root my phone, as it's crashing and self-rebooting (often into safe mode) several times a day, and I unfortunately just don't have the time to read hundreds of posts, trying to learn the lingo.

Right now I have this:
Model SCH-I500
Firmware 2.2.1
Baseband EB01
Kernal 2.6.32.9
Build EB01

The last time I rooted, I installed Superclean 2.9.
When I boot into recovery, it shows red Clockwork 2.5.1.

I've downloaded Odin3 1.3, and community_rom_1.3_test2.zip.

Can someone explain in very simple steps how to install this rom? I can't tell if I'm supposed to do it from Clockwork or with Odin. If Clockwork, where do I put the community rom on my phone so that Clockwork can find it, and what option do I choose to do the install? Is it "install zip from sdcard?

And before installing, what wipes do I have to do? I see options for "wipe data/factory reset", "wipe cache partition", "wipe Dalvik cache", "wipe battery stats", etc. Do I need to do all of them?

Do I need to delete any files/folders from my SD card as well?

Once installed, do I have to re-activate my phone with Verizon?

Many thanks in advance for your patient help. Please don't leave out any steps, or assume I know anything!

Update to a newer CWM via odin, then install rom via CWM.
Thanks for the quick reply, Nunyazz.

Where do I get the "newer CWM"?

And then I just put the community rom zip file in the root of my SD card, and clockwork can install it from there?

Get the CWM here : [RECOVERY][ODIN][ZIP][4.22.11]Voodoo CWM 3.x UPDATED 5.8.11 - xda-developers
You can even pick what color you want to use.. lol

1st - copy the new ROM to your SD card (doesn't matter where)
2nd - Boot to CWM and wipe all 3 to be safe (wipe data/factory reset, dalvik cache & cache partition)
3rd - Boot from CWM to download mode or just pull the battery and (volume down while plugging in)
4th - Odin new CWM
5th - boot to new CWN and load new ROM. (install zip from sdcard)

I think they should still be installed, but thanks for the link.

Are there any files/folders I should delete from the SD card during this process?

CWM3 and the wipes went fine. Using it to install community_rom_1.3_test2.zip now (I hope that's the correct file...)

Okay, looks like it worked! Thanks a lot for holding my hand while I did it.

Now to start reinstalling apps and what-not...

Nunyazz, if you're still around:

1. How do I get my draw-a-pattern back to unlock the phone?
2. The Swype doesn't seem to work. I can draw a pattern, but then it just beeps and doesn't display the word.
3. Some of my apps that I paid for from the market (like Dolphin HD browser) haven't shown up when I logged into the market with my Google account. How can I get them back? The Amazon-based apps are all available, but only a few from the market. Or should I be trying to use Titanium instead?

Thanks again.

1. Have you looked at the lockscreen settings?
2. The swype beta has expired, you have to install the new version, check on XDA
3. I would give market a while to refresh
4. I only use Titanium to restore apps.

I found a way to change the lockscreen, but none of them seem to be the connect-the-dots type. They're just all a simple slide-something, which anyone can open.

I tried restoring Swype from Titanium, but the new "TSM" nonfunctional one persists, so I'll see what I can find on XDA.

I miss that beautiful flying purple hexagons display that SuperClean 2.9 displayed while booting...guess there's no way to restore that, huh?

The blue hex's is a custom boot screen, search boot animations here there is a tread with a link to them.

I still can't find the Swype fix. Thought I had it, but it turned out to just change the appearance. Any chance anyone might know of a direct link?

Also, I'm now showing Baseband EB01. Should I be using EC01? (I read the GPS works faster with EC01). If so, is it possible to add it with CWM3 without messing up my current installation?

Thanks again; I'll try those threads. I also found the boot screen threads. You wouldn't happen to know the name of that hexagon one, would you?

Seems like there are lots of different boot animations, but not much in the way of thumbnails to go with them.
