Still Image Quality with 2.2?

Does 2.2 improve the quality of still pictures taken? I know that it lets you record 720p video now...so I'm interested to know if 2.2 also improves images?

thanx for any help!!

I found the quality of the pictures taken with the Desire with Android 2.1 rather disappointing regarding to those of my previous Nokia also with 5mp camera. Couldn't take pictures of our cats as they never sit still (unless they are asleep).
Now with Froyo the shutter speed seems to be improved drastically and it is possible to take clear pictures of our cats.

I just cleaned the scratches off the outside of the lenses cover with tooth paste and the inside with window cleaner and now the pics are as clear as with the phone cover off! Excellent result.

In terms of the quality I see no real improvement between 21. and 2.2.

Having just got my phone back from repair a few weeks ago (they changed the motherboard and updated it to 2.2) I can however see the 'red centre' problem a lot more prominently now, no idea if that's 2.2 or the fact they've changed the hardware.

Either way I'm very un-impressed with that and the pretty useless '720p' recording.

I've never heard of the red center problem. What is it?

And how come the 720p recordings are useless?

The red hue at the centre of pictures taken is very common among several HTC handsets, I've had a few Desire handsets and some have it more noticably than others. It does depend on what you're taking a photo of aswell as it's more noticable on near subject photos.

720p recordings (on mine, and a co-workers handset) seem to be very low frame rate and still suffer from the chopping during camera movement, just as they did before. But also on my handset now I get jerky freezing of the picture. I have a class 4 8GB running at a tested speed of class 6 but the problem remains - but even without the freezing the FR and quality is just too low to get excited about the magical 720p tag imo.

I switch back WVGA and just accept video is not great on the Desire.

The 720p recording is essentially broken. It is the worst capture I have seen on a phone for years. My N95, 5800XM, N97 mini and N86 all take far better video.

Currently, the 720p that came with 2.2 is a jerky, stuttering and unwatchable mess. Dreadful.
