Root Still on ZVA on my esteem

Hey ppl of android forums.! I'm new to this so excuse me if I ask a noob question. I currently have the LG Esteem and I bought it pretty much the first week it came out. I haven't rooted yet and I'm just wondering if I can still root my phone with the original method when this phone was first rooted? I am still on ZVA and I've heard there is ZVB and ZVC on other Esteem's. Any help would be great. Thanks.!

ay quick question do u have any reboot issues on zva , I'm guessing u still could root ur phone with original root method

Actually I have never had a reboot issue at all. I got my phone on September 30 2011 and it's been working great! I heard people had reboot issues and that's why the came out with an OTA update. Thanks I'll be attempting to see if I can root over the weekend with the original method,

Same ? I was gonna ask LOL
Dejvu...as I had to wait for root for version B(never had A).
There is no root for A..dont know if the root for B & C would work(unless you want to be the tester) ;)

Options for you J:
The easiest would be to upgrade using LG Mobile Support: Find the Latest Drivers & Product Guides | LG USA
to C version and root

The other option would be to use the LGNPST to upgrade to B and root.

Any issues with your Version A at all or...

zva never had the reboot issues, the main reason zvb came out was to fix an issue with zva where the phone would go on 'downloading mode' and the screen would go black and asked you not to unplug the phone...but the phone was never plugged to anything. then zvb caused the reboot issues....zvc came out to fix the reboot issues but failed.

I don't want to brick my phone trying to root since I'm fairly new to android.

LGNPST? What is that?

Never had a issues with A it works just fine no complains as of now.

LGNPST is a program to do many diff things to your LG (downgrade from version c to b..prl..many more).
Best bet would be to update to C(post above^^^) and root . Most of the bugs have been worked out. This link has everything you need after update to start ya off.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I was reading a bit about this program and I see there's a chance at bricking my phone. Is it fairly easy to update to C? Can I download this program off the web or something? This is all new to me.

Yeah for sure LGNPST could really mess you up if not careful(thus the disclaimers)LOL

It is intimidating starting off with this stuff as well as scary(who wants to shell out $300 and render your new toy(hehe):D i mean phone useless.

Read and read again...that's how I learned. We will all help you as alot of thing that happen have happened to all of us when just beginning. This would be a better start for you just starting off http://androidforums.com/esteem-all...-friend-rooting-flashing-step-step-guide.html
it is in the think I posted up above BTW;)
Everything is here that you need it s just a matter of sorting through it all:cool:
Gotta get ready for work but here is your first tip:
Plug your phone into your computer and it should download all the drivers needed to not only view all your files of your phone on your computer but is also the first thing to do prior to rooting.:D
If they dont all install simply go hereLG _USB _Drivers_All_4.9.7.zip - File Shared from Box and extract the zip file and run the setup

Man I would love a copy of that Version A to mess with:eek::D

Exactly I do feel intimidated!

I'll be doing a lot of reading before I even think about trying to root my phone. The only thing I worry is upgrading to B.

Is it possible to even get a copy of A?

Are you basing that theory on your personal experience or that's actually what caused the reboots?

I am positive that ZVA had root. I remember when B was coming out OTA, that people were saying that it broke root but you could just reroot (of course it was the original root we had). It took many weeks before I saw an update screen in the middle of the morning and it updated to ZVB. I rerooted and have been on B ever since. After that I remember a new updated root came out (not for C) iirc.

Ahh..wasn't sure if A root..seems like so long ago:D

yes ZVA was rooted and B broke it, but was able to root again, im wondering if he made a backup of A and have the peoples with reboot issues to flash it and see if the problem will stop, and also if it does we would have a custom rom with ZVA also. :D

Going to try and get a hold of him today and get a backup if possible..if he did not root yet:eek:

Haven't done anything to my phone yet. I've been busy at work. I might have time either today or tomorrow. :D

Hey guys, Hey Can you help me out here, I have worked with the rebooting problem on b with a few friends lg esteem and my own as some of you guys know, and I was wondering if we can pull zva, from his phone and fix the problem our self of the crashed update that zvb fixed, I know we can do that. cause thats where zvb got the problem, I personally havent had a reboot since my fix nor has my friends. so I am personally wondering if we can do that.

any input?

I am guessing you thought of this before me? lol

Great minds think alike, I spoke with LG yesterday, they said they already told metropcs about the update and advised me to go to a corp. store. but WE, the ESTEEM forum know better. Let me know when you have it I would like to get a copy of it,

Gbiggie, By chance do you know if we can virtualize the android image? to a computer, I am hating this whole upgrade downgrade crap to test stuff

I Can have a dedicated Virtual server, for any testers if we can virtualize, I know I am not the only one here and for those that dont have a phone it would help too, I just cant seem to find a way to put the OS into VmWare

has anyone got a copy of ZVA? i got my replacement esteem 3 days ago, it came with the zvc update i thought it was problem free but every 12 hrs if not once a day, when the screen is off it lights up with metropcs logo for about 3 seconds then goes back to homescreen as if it had rebooted & starts everything over again, is that considered a reboot? i know its not as bad as my other esteem i replaced but id like this to not happen at all, ive been reading on the forums that supposively LG is coming out with another update & that the problem is considered to be how our sim cards connects with their network but my problem happens when on wifi too , so what does wifi have to do with anything if am not using the network when it happens, am basically using my home internet connection, just saying...
