Root Still running froyo, missing anything yet?

Well, been away from the dx forum for a while (purchased a charge) and I decided to go retro and try out the x for a while again. Fired it up and realized I am still on froyo. If my memory serves me correct, when I got the Charge I had been running 596 but there we some issues and I went back to froyo for the simple reason it was just running better and the themes were better (not to mention, er..um the wireless tether issues). I have been reading through the posts but not keeping up with them everyday has left me lets say out of the loop. Steven I need your help :). Any suggestions on where to go?
 
Steven will tell you to upgrade to GB .596 and stay stock with all the BLURry goodness. Personally I'd go from FroYo and try out one of the 2nd init ROMs like MIUI or CM7. I'm on MIUI and love it, its chocked full of customization options.

Many advantages to move from froyo to a GB rom. The stock GingerBlur is ok But their are many other GB roms out there. some of the recently popular are the 2nd init roms like CM7,MIUI and OMGB I have tried them all out but I am currently running each new MIUI build as they come out.

Some will tell you that the 2nd init roms are bad on battery. Mine seems fine. Also a new battery fix has been applied to the more recent versions of each. But in a few days that wont matter since Framework and CVPCS are working to get 2nd init working with the GB kernel.
 
I'm going to also recommend trying out some 2nd init ROMs. CM7's been good to me so far, except as mentioned the battery life isn't the best. I can make it through the whole day and my phone ends up dying about 9 pm. Stock blur is just a battery sipper, while 2nd init is a guzzler. Still, the configuration options in CM7 and the smoothness of the interface can't be beat.

Call me when this happens :eek: (No seriously, the second I can flash this I want to! I only have 3 weeks left with my X!) :D

No, but I'm under the impression that you should be able to install it over the .602. Still waiting for confirmation of this. Also, I don't think any of the GB roms are "based" off the .602 yet. I could be wrong though. Someone clarify things!

Actually I think Darkslide is only for .340, correct?
