Stock 2.2 rom - *Unroot for work use*

Lurker
Hi,

I bought a HTC Desire pre-rooted running the Pay's Desire Froyo Sense rom which is all well and good but I would actually prefer to run this device as stock as i wasn't told it was pre-rooted and would like to use it for work (We can't allow rooted devices to have access to exchange mail etc.)

Can someone please point me in the direction of a safe RRU to use for it as there are none on HTC's site and i think the baseband etc is rather new..

Details:

Android 2.2
Baseband 32.48.00.32U _5.11.05.04
Kernel Version: 2.6.32.15-gf9c0527
htc-kernel@and18-2 #1
Build - 2.10.405.2 CL226611 release-keys
Software:
Pay's Desire Froyo Sense v2.2

Any help greatly appreciated, I am eager to get back to stock 2.2.

cheers.

Thing is we don't know if it was branded or not.

1) go into the rooting sub forum and the sticky has a link to a goldcard tool. You need a goldcard to run a generic RUU if the phone was branded originally.

2) This is the latest unbranded RUU

Sorry to jump in on your thread but would this work on my desire, debranded Orange that is rooted?

I would just like to install a standard rom to see if I can get my wifi working.

Also, how do I install the rom? I have followed loads of links and advice over the last few days but it has mainly been to root the phone.

I think to much info has passed through my brain and numbed it!

MH75: That's an RUU (ROM Update Utility), which will unroot your device as well as install stock firmware on it. The one recommended here will only work on your handset if you have a goldcard in it. But if you are debranded you've presumably done something like that already?

OK, now moving off-topic for this thread (i.e. what follows is about flashing a ROM and not about running an RUU):

If you want stock firmware that's still rooted, look here: [ROM] [28/12] Pre-rooted Stock Froyo (2.29.405.5) [Optional mods] - xda-developers.

To install: copy zip file to your SD card. Reboot into recovery (boot while pressing "volume down" button). Select "install zip from SD card", find the zip with the ROM, install, reboot (from recovery menu).

Recommended: wipe (factory reset) before flashing (if installing one stock ROM over another you may not need to do this). This means you need to back up your data first.

Non-optional: do a nandroid backup first.

If there's anything here you are unsure about, wait until you are sure!

Thanks again danfrance. That worked perfectly.

Losing root for work purposes makes me feel like a corporate nutsack though. but yay! thanks.

Hi Rik,

Yes, I knew you were wanting to unroot. Wasn't so clear for MH75.

I'm glad my work doesn't have a security policy like that!

Once again cheers for the info.

Yup got a goldcard, did it while debranding.

I tried to run the RUU by double clicking but nothing happened, I'm sure thats all I had to do to debrand!

Might try to flash the rom first like you mentioned to see if that cures the wifi problem.:)

Might be time to start a new thread with more details of your wifi problem.

Edit: suggesting new thread because an appropriate thread title may attract different readers, both able to offer help and looking for similar help.
