Root Stock Android vs. Sense

Has anyone moved to stock Android and then missed Sense?

I like the Facebook/Twitter integration that Sense brings, not sure how much Android itself supports.

I'm tempted to try a Gingerbread ROM but I don't know if I'll miss the features of Sense or not, and flashing a new ROM is a pain for me!

I use Launcher Pro rather than the default Sense launcher and I don't use any of the sense widgets.

Cheers

Doubt if you'll miss sense then, plenty of apps for facebook and twitter on the market, non sense roms are much faster. :)

I rooted while back so I dont miss stock or sense! Altho I do miss the friendstream widget. There is nothing like it on the market except on launcher pro but Im not interested in that either!

I used to miss sense when I moved to stock Android but I don't now with Gingerbread. I love the new look of Android. I also use beautiful widgets as they have a great clock and weather widget that looks very similar to the Sense version.

Pure messenger is good. And skinable too. Costs though

I didn't miss the sense launcher (rosie) or the sense widgets, but I desperately missed the polish of the HTC Sense core apps (like dialer, people, settings, etc. etc).

As such, I used a SenseHD ROM (insertcoin) and removed all Sense launcher + widgets, and instead use LauncherPro Plus and its widgets + many others.

Since there is now a leak and beta version of a Sense ROM on Gingerbread (see [ROM][Ginger Sense][11 Mar]RCMix S v01 First GingerSense port!! Test and report! - xda-developers), I will do the same thing once this gets stable (i.e.: use Sense ROM without Sense launcher + widgets)

I'm going to wipe everything, install GV, and only re-install from backup my messages, alarms, etc, rather than every app. Then I'll just install every app manually. See if that helps.
I once had an issue when I restored all apps+data from backup.
Since then, I only restore the user apps (not the system apps) and mostly without the apps data. Beats the manual install when you have 50+ apps. ;)

You mentioned it before Dan but does it have a transparent widget like on sense??

Not only does it have a transparent skin as an option, but you can also set the transparency on all the non transparent skins too.

I'm not exaggerating, it's like having a brand new phone with this ROM. It is so fast compared to default froyo sense and all of the ROMs I've had so far. Cannot believe how nippy it is, been playing with it for the last 2 hours or so :D

glad you like it. certainly seems to be the favourite around these parts

I thought I would miss the sense keyboard but I seem to be typing a lot faster on the Gingerbread keyboard, and having the power saving widget in the notification bar leaves more real estate on my main home screen for other widgets.

Loving it so far! Found one minor problem so far, I uninstalled ROM Manager and Titanium Backup via the market.. now the uninstall option is greyed out but they're both still installed. Cannot uninstall via the applications settings menu either.

No biggy though ;)

You have to uninstall before flashing.

I can only use the htc keyboard, so I still use that

Not sure what you mean. Titanium Backup was installed when I flashed the ROM, so how can I uninstall it before flashing?

Unless I'm being thick

Edit:

I guess you mean remove it from the .zip file before I flash that to my phone? Never thought of that.. I'll just live with it I think :P Cheers!
