Help Stock Browser & Stock messaging apps.

Hi all i just wondering if anyone knows how the hell i fully exit these apps, i don't see an exit option anywhere not even in the menu.
I have been using the back button untill the app closes on the screen but if i then goto taskmanager it is still running.
The only way to close both these apps that i have found so far is in task manager, why is there no exit option in these apps? or am i just missing it?

Yeah I just use the task manager widget to kill apps (the short one with the coloured bar and a number), I keep it on my home page.
I don't know of any way to exit these so yeah that's what I do.

Don't exit them. Android is designed to close apps its self when the memory is needed, until then, just let them run in the background. Killing them with a task manager will just slow the system down as it needs to load the task manager, kill the app, close the task manager and then reload the app when you next launch it.

The only time you should use a task manager is when an app is misbehaving and still using CPU power when it should be dormant.

Is this your first android? Yeah I bugged me when I moved from Symbian which had a back and exit button. ^_^

Just press the home button and let android do all the work

Yes m8 it is my first android and so far i love it just didn't think apps should still be running when you think you have closed it, lots of learning still to go lol.

Thanks for all the replies i guess i will just leave them as they are then if thats how they should work.

Lool. I had the same feeling/thoughts last year. (when I got my desire, my first android)

Trust me. It's just so damn awesome! I moved from the dying Symbian, so it was a HUGE jump for me.

Lol i know what your saying i have just moved from a nokia N97 iv had for 2 years and im sure most of you will know the problems that phone has had.

I stuck with it cos i like a challenge

OMG! I had SO MUCH RESPECT FOR YOU MAN! Same! From a hardcore Nokia (when they were GOOD - etc, N80 and N95 - KING PHONES) fanboy to simply going for the best one! Fanboyism gets you know where. lol.

But I honestly couldn't keep with my N97. It was just TOO bad, and I mean TOO bad. (for some reason I had a feeling you came from Nokia) Okay, it was lucky the business contract im on with my dad's office, had a spare upgrade, so I managed to get a desire!

But my brother, going to be moving from N97 to a GSII, as soon as they get in stock and we order them.

One thing OVI STORE... LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL.

The brief time I used it....in it's beginning stages...oh dear. New updates every other week...still NO improvement!

Just 1 word of caution when you press the home button to "exit" the browser. Try to make sure flash content isn't running when do you so. Occasionally, the flash plugin continues to work after you exit back to the Android home screen. If that happens, your battery will just die in less than an hour (or however long your battery lasts when playing flash). It took me awhile to figure this out, so now what I do is just close the existing tab/window first and then home button out. This doesn't always happen, and if you run another app, most likely Android will automatically kill flash to claim enough memory to run your new program, but it's something to be aware of.

Hi i've been using the program monitor to shut down my apps. If u go to the menu/add/widgets then flick through its there, great for switching between them too.

Thanks to everyone for all the tips, i will make sure i keep an eye on the flash content.
When i first got this phone a week ago my battery performance was dire, but since rooting it and flashing the latest firmware its spot on, this phone just gets better and better.
