Help Stock Camera/video recorder doesn't work

ashhow

Lurker
Hi guy and girls,
I've had this problem for about 3 months, basically since I got a new SD card, my SE Xperia Ray's Camera/Video recorder simple tells me "SD write protected" whenever I try to use them and will not let me record anything. The same goes for my Gallery.

In order to get round this, I use a 3rd party Camera and gallery. However there seems to be no video recorder on the market, can anybody help?

Many thanks.

Hi ash, I don't think I've seen a 3rd party video recorder unfortunately. Have you tried clearing the cache and data of the camera app via the applications menu?

Settings - > Applications -> All -> Camera -> Clear Cache/Data

I believe the app LG Camera might have the ability to let you record videos. You could try that?

Failing that, I think you might need to contact Sony/a repair centre I'm afraid.

Hi Ashhow,

Have you tried another card, and also

have you made sure the switch on the SD card is not in the lock position.

Hi I tried to LG Camera and it worked, cheers for that.
As for the lock position, my phone uses a micro-SD so there is no lock on it.

You may also want to try backing up the content from the card to a PC then formatting the card:

Main Menu > Settings > Storage > Unmount SD Card > Format SD Card.
