Help Stock Message App is Super Slow

I got tired of my Thunderbolt running slow, so I deleted a ton of music & apps I dont use. I also got rid of Handcent messaging app. But geez Louise the stock messaging app is sooooo slow. I tap to open it & it takes 10-15 seconds just to load the main page showing all my text threads. Help?

If you keep all of your texts then it will tend to load more slowly. If you can part with some there is a good chance you will see the app speed up a little.

I just picked up a used Tbolt & cannot find the stock msg app. Could it have been deleted from the phone? Where can I reload it?
