anyone know why or what i can do? It doesnt crash all the time but at least 2x a day it gives me a pop up that messaging crashed and it goes away by itself in less than a second..

i use chompsms as default but not sure if its causing the stock app to crash.. Ive cleared the cache but it happens later on .
any ideas?

I use to use Chomp on my old rooted LG Optimus Elite and deleted the stock/OEM messaging app. I had issues and contacted the developer. He said you must leave the stock/OEM message app on the phone because Chomp uses it's database. I put the stock app back on and then it worked fine. So if you removed or disabled the OEM app, trying put it back and/or enabling it.

I'm using the stock app on this phone because it does everything I want (except for the sound when a message is sent - I miss that).

it is enabled hence the title of this question. "Stock Messaging app crashing"

i just turned of the notifications so i can use chomp as the default. Once in a while when i used the stock msg app it crashes while im reading or typing a message and opens itself to the page that shows all messages.

im gonna try to lay off chomp and see if its causing the app to crash/reboot

Don't know if it matters, but when I was using Chomp it was on GingerBread/Android 2.

yeah i didnt have problems with my old phone//

so i tried to use stock but it crashes in the middle of typing a message every now and then so i had to switch back to chomp. i guess i'll have to deal with this bug/problem!

Yeah, that is weird. Maybe there is a different message app out there that will work better. Or one that is tailored more for Jelly Bean.

i reset my phone and im using the stock msg-ing without problems... (except that sometime the phone will stay on for a while when i get a msg.. sometimes it turns off in a couple of seconds and sometimes i have to use the power button, anyone else?)

Sometimes the messaging app lags a bit for me. Like I'll open it, it shows me all the text, I select a thread, then it stays on that screen with the thread I selected highlighted, then it shows the thread to me. Sometimes it's a long wait.

i started using hangouts... its not the best but it beat the crashing and the stock msg app which is whack.. I got a text and the screen would stay on for a while and sometimes it wouldn't go off until i turn it off.
