Root Stock Messaging app with black background?

i been using BB v4 with fabs nex theme only thing that gets me is i got all black everywhere but when i click on the stock msgs it bright and was wondering if there was way to make background on msgs black. I know handcent and chomp do it but i am just a fan of the sms popup any help would be great;) thanks in advance

ruqqq edited the native messaging app with an option for a black background. It's included in a lot of roms, but can't seem to find a standalone apk yet. I'll edit this post when i do.

found one that works has black msg window nice clean look goes good with black/dark theme and has dark blue icon use root manager to install set permissions to 644
 
How did you install it over the Messaging app that comes on BB 0.4? My only options are Uninstall and Open, since it is technically installed already.. And I can't uninstall the version that is already on there.
 
just an fyi after following the above steps you'll need to reboot for the changes to take effect.

i'd also recommend a nandroid backup just to be sure, that way if something is messed up you can just do a restore.

ya sorry forgot to say reboot and backup ur mms.apk incase any error
