Help stock music player issues

Couldn't find anything specific to the Inspire 4g so I was wondering if anyone else has experienced or knows about any issues with the stock music player specifically where it will skip songs like it was playing a CD.

It has been working fine until a point where I was working out and it started to suddenly play certain songs sporadically, like I said it skips kinda like a CD player or kinda like you're skipping ahead. It's only some songs that do this and will do so even if just laying stationary. Haven't abused the phone by any means and it's only like 1.5 mnths old, so wth. Haven't noticed it being a specific file issue either. Maybe with the specific song files though?

Anyone else hear, experience, encounter, know, saw this happen or have any suggestions? TiA :)

The two most likely explanations I can think of are 1) a background task is hogging your CPU, 2) SD card problem (either hardware or format).

If it's the first one, you may also be seeing higher than normal battery drain. You can try turning off "fastboot" (it's in settings under "applications") and then powering the phone off and then back on. Try the media player before you run any other apps and see if the problem is gone. If it is, then you may need to do some Sherlock Holmes work to figure out which of your downloaded apps is causing a problem. Of course some apps start at boot, so if this doesn't fix the problem, it's still possible there's an app causing it.

To see if it's the SD card, the best thing to do is try a different SD card. But not everyone has spare SD cards lying around, so you may also want to try mounting your SD card on your PC/Mac (using a USB-MicroSD) adapter and using disk check tools to look for filesystem problems.

Do the same songs skip at the same point every time? If so the skips may be encoded in the file. Check by copying the files back to your computer/connecting your phone as a USB
drive and trying to play the file in your preferred media player (iTunes, Windows Media, etc.)

Never had that happen on this phone. Maybe your songs have been incorrectly encoded? I've had it happen where a CD that skips will produce a file that also sounds like it's skipping.

No, it is random. It appears to happen only when moving the phone around a lot; i.e when doing jump rope or running when working out of course. They all play fine on my pc. :(

That's what I'm thinking as sometimes certain songs play and then at other times a msg displays with something like "this media file cannot be supported" but *scrathing my head* cuz they work more than not.

I dunno...I think I'm gonna wait it out for now maybe taking it back in. It's happened three times so far when working out so it's not like it happens everytime I do so...not yet at least. :o
