Root Stock ROM?

I'd like to keep root status but go back to the ROM that came with the phone as if I had just rooted it but never flashed any ROMs to it (except the boot screen and splash can stay).

Most ROMs just have too many problems for me but I love the root option so I'd like to be able to go kind of back if possible. I know I can unroot then do the root method again but I was wondering if there was a quicker way than that.

If you just want a stock rom with superuser abilities there you are able to download the stock ROMS in the download sticky.
Look for:
Gingerbread Official OTA 4.53.651.1
[ROM][STOCK][Rooted] 4.53.651.1 - Odexed & De-Odexe

What ROM's have you tried that your having problems with?

LOL, they are even in the link in your signature :p

lol really? I only knew bits and pieces of the things listed on there but didn't fully understand every part.

Wellll...

MIUI, EViO, Warm TwoPointTwo, CM7, Fresh...have only been a select few of the ROMs I've dealt with. I've done more but those are the ones that I spent the most time with.

Each had problems with them which is to be expected but if I am remembering correctly, the stock ROM didn't have as bad of problems as these do. Like sometimes the touch screen is unresponsive, some apps won't work right in connectivity with others, 4G is disabled on some, HDMI doesn't work, front camera doesn't work sometimes...and much more problems. If it isn't one problem, then it's another and I realize they aren't perfect but I don't think I like picking and choosing and dealing with the changes and not being able to go into a Sprint store as soon as I have a problem and other things like that. I like ROMs but I don't think I can keep up with all these little problems.

You will still need to fully unroot before going to a Sprint store for service. The superuser app will give you away, as well as any custom bootanimations, kernels, ect your using.

If you want to try one more ROM before going back to stock I would suggest trying MikG 2.57. It was just updated today and it has almost everything working (I can't think of a single thing that isnt working, but I didnt want to say it had EVERYTHING working just in case;)).

If you do have a problem with 2.57 try 2.56 Ive been running it since it came out and not 1 issue. so far on my phone everything works great and as it should.

did you make a nan when you first rooted like the guide suggested?

That is pretty stock. :)

Hahaha thanks!

Oh yeah, I knew that they could figure it was rooted by those including looking at the HBOOT S-Off but yeah, I was just saying that I could at least kind of go in and get some help cause it wouldn't be as bad but I get what you mean.

I'll try out MikG. I've heard lots of good things about it and if what you say is true, I'll try it out! Thanks!

Yea I did but I changed Recoveries (I know I can go back, but I'd rather not go through the trouble lol) and then my freakinggggg Evo did that infamous format SD card a few months ago and I lost everything and I wasn't smart enough to back up to a computer so my very first backup with this phone goes all the way back to like EViO or something lol

Thanks for the tip Rxpert83! I flashed MikG 2.57 last night and wow....it is the greatest ROM I have seen in a while. I thought CM7 was great until it started acting up on me but this ROM is phenomenal. I didn't have any problems until this morning when it:
1. Wouldn't download apps from the Market. I would click download, accept, and then it would be stuck saying "Downloading..." but never went anywhere. That was on more than 2 apps that that happened with.
2. It randomly clicked back over and over again through a bunch of different apps til it finally went back to the homescreen.
3. And just now, it wouldn't respond to touch after unlocking it (CM7 did that to me a lot which forced me to stop using it.)

But overall, it is a pretty neat ROM and one that I can see myself using for quite some time to come. Thanks for the tip!

EDIT: After a reboot, the apps are now downloading. Possibly just needed a reboot is all?

I've noticed sometimes things don't download for me right away too. However, I dont know if the issue is with the latest version of the android market that this ROM has or with the ROM itself.

If it ever happens again, you can log into the market from your computer, find what your looking for and just click install on your computer and it will automatically begin downloading to your phone instantly.

Thanks for that tip too! lol yeah, that is a possibility that it could be a Market problem. I was so quick to blame the ROM.

Are you using amon-ra recovery or clockwork?

To me it sounds like you didn't get a good wipe before you flashed the Rom. I've never had any issues like that with MikG.

I'd try and redownload the Rom and really wipe that thing. Wipe both caches three times dadta reset three times and run vrsuperwipe at least twice. Then flash the Rom. Make sure when you reboot you let the phone sit for 10-20 minutes, don't touch it. aamikam has said over at the mikmik to do this after flashing, It's supposed to help "settle" things in.

I'll try that. When I flash, I do a Caulkin's Format .zip and then I wipe all that other stuff but only once then I go and flash whatever I was trying to flash. But that's an interesting method I could try.
