Root Stock Sense VS redux

Could anyone compared the above said Sense - Redux roms, regarding the widgets/apps etc...

I think the sense weather widget is one thing...

If anyone know the main plus/minus please share.....


(Rooted, 4gb card partitioned, but getting a new 16 gb card.....
waiting the card to flash the rom....)

Sense are sense roms, very large with lots of bundled apps and features, redux and gingervillian are aosp based roms which are based purely on basic Android, the benefit is generally smaller in size but they tend to be faster. The sense style weather widgets you can still use on any Rom as there are lots on the market, the only thing you don't get with aosp roms is no friend stream or HTC based apps and widgets, I personally have never looked back after leaving sense behind. But there are lots if sense roms around, froyo and gingerbread, just have a play and decide which you prefer.
Go over to xda and have a look at there list of roms.

I'd recommend Redux (or AOSP) rather than sense but i don't have any need for the sense stuff. Only thing i can see of benefit is the HTC People contacts app as it seems better at syncing/linking contacts from different sources (FB etc). Not missed by me as all my contacts are either in Outlook and synced to Google anyway. Best advice try a few and see how you get on (i had Leedroid and Insertcoin ROMs, and tried Oxygen before settling on Redux for a while).

I have just made the move from Sense to Redux, honestly its worth the move.
For me it was anyway, i didn't use any of the sense Widgets, i didn't even use the Launcher iv always used GoLauncher.

Want some good advice.

Nandroid backup.
Pick an ASOP ROM for EG Redux, install that and try it for a few days. Dont like it? Nandroid Restore.

( Obviously there is a few more steps but i assume you know ho to flash a ROM if not, ask ) =)

The "try it for a few days" is advice I'd second.

When you try a ROM that's significantly different, it's possible that the first things you'll notice are the things that are "missing", or don't work the way you'd expect (i.e. the way that you are used to). It may take longer to appreciate the things that the does better, or discover the things it does that the old one doesn't, and so come to a balanced view.

+1 to all of that.

i moved from Sense to an ASOP ROM and straight away i went.."urgh", and moved back. Now im back to stay, didnt appreciate how much better it ran.
Although, like the saying goes "To each their own"

I think the main thing that stopped me doing the same was discovering the power control widget in the notification pull-down. That was cool and useful enough to me that I gave it that crucial extra bit of time - and have never gone back to Sense since...

my first extra non stock sense ROm was one of the Hybrid ones which had the pull down tab, never even realised that Redux has it too, was a nice surprise.
