Help Stock SMS issue

Hi guys, i use the stock HTC SMS prog and it does a couple of really laggy/annoying things. when i get a text, open my inbox and press on the new text, i am often taken to the wrong sms thread. this is of particular annoyance when i dont realise its the wrong text thread and i send a reply to a completely different person. (not funny when i have lecturers and colleagues etc).

I have used handcent before but found it to be quite buggy, laggy and a battery hog. i guess that emptying my inbox may speed things up, but this is not something that many people do nowadays eh?

any suggestions would be much appreciated. ie is chomp sms any good?

I've heard this several times about the stock app, glad I use Handcent with 0 issues!

A lot of people use Chomp here, try it out and see!

The wrong person issue is prevalent across the android platform. I have it now and again. I also set my sms limit to 500.

given chomp sms a try. seems less fiddly than handcent. the popup is handy and more responsive than handcent. i would consider donating the
