Help Stock SMS issue

I've decided to change back from GO SMS to the stock SMS (this won't be forever, I'm sure!) and I've made sure all the notifications for GO SMS are turned off, and the stock SMS are turned on.. problem is, I'm not getting notifications! No sound (even though the notification volume is up and it's all turned on), no notice in the drop down bar at the top.. nothing.

Any idea what the issue could be? Could it be because Go SMS isn't deleted? It's strange because when I get an MMS message the stock app does notify me.

Isn't there a setting within Go that turns off the notifications in the stock SMS, is it still activated?
