Have you got "double space inserts period" and "insert space after word" set? If so and you then use the spacebar again it could do this.

lol i frequently hit period by accident on the keyboard for touchwiz, there are options in settings to turn off automatic punctuation but the problem is you keep.jitting space twice by accident so it assumes new sentence and you just missed the period or something. common thing, turn off auto punctuation or stop drinking so much coffee are your best options
