Help Stop Repeating Email Notification Sound

I'm not sure if there is some sort of reminder for every 5 minutes buried on a menu, but when I receive an e-mail if I don't check it my phone notifies me until I look at it.

Is there some way to only have my email notification sound set to once?

It's a hotmail alert. I have all my other e-mail alerts turned off, only the hotmail is set to receive a audible alert. but it just repeats itself every 5 minutes until I go in and read. Just want it to go off once, and be done!
