Stop volume buttons from changing the profile (loud, silent, vibrate)

Say I have my phone (HTC One M8) on silent, and I press one of the volume buttons. At the moment, it'll change from silent to vibrate or loud (depending on what volume button is pressed).

How do I prevent it doing this? Basically, I want it to stay on whatever profile it's on even if I press one of the volume buttons.

Is this possible?

The buttons override the profile, so no, unless you remap the buttons to do something else. (You'd have to be rooted and use something like an Xposed Framework module.)

I am having this same problem!! Love the m8, had an iPhone for the past 4 years and just moved to android. This is the only thing that bugs me about it. It's sho sensitive that I'm constantly changing the profile. There must be a solution or an app that can get round this

I guess I don't understand. If you are on silent, and you hit volume up, what DO you want to happen? Personally I like that functionality. Easy access to silent and vibrate, and rather intuitive.

Since the M8 is a little longer than your previous phone it takes some getting used to because of the volume rockers location. I actually stopped the accidental volume changes after putting a case on mine.

My dear friends,
Anyway to disable the volume rocker? It's so easy to have the phone accidentally switch to vibrate? Thanks very much.

The only solution that I can think of is finding a case for the phone that has a rigid volume rocker cover.

The two SUPCASE® branded cases that I have for this phone do a great job of preventing accidental volume changes.

BTW, I looked in the GOOGLE PLAY STORE for an application that might disable the volume rocker w/no results.

The exact problem with the One M8 is that the volume rocker switch remains functional when the phone is locked. So when I accidentally have finger over the rocker switch while I press the main unlock key with my other hand, I find myself inadvertently changing the volume mode. This is the first and only non-Sony Android device I've ever had (and I only had it because my service provider threw it in with an unlimited bundle for free, so I thought I should dare to wander off outside the Sony reservation for a change and try it out after the great things I heard and read about it,) but I must say that this is the only fly in the ointment that taints my experience with this otherwise great phone. It's the only phone I ever felt I had to treat with kid gloves (you can imagine the 18-wheeler size of my raging hatred for the iPhone!) to the point where I find myself having to think twice ever time I (very carefully) pick the darn thing up. In the immortal words of the great Dude as he quoted a far inferior president: this will not stand, man!

Is there a way to inactivate the volume button while the 'lock screen' is active? (To keep from inadvertently turning the volume up or down.)

I have had my m8 for 6 months now and I have never experienced this.... My phone ,which never leaves it dot view case, has never done this .... You tap the screen to unlock, and your fingers in a normal holding position ,for me anyways, is down on the bottom of the phone with my index finger just below the volume down button. And I don't have Small hands Cuz I can fully and comfortably use the whole phone with my left thumb!

I use Profilo. This app has a lot of features to silent phone quickly. Even you can just shake your mobile to silent and shake again to undo. You can save location of your workplace through this app and your job is done. Phone will automatically be silent. You can schedule your phone as well. Get it on google play.
