Help Stopping Connection

Hi,

I have recently purchased an LG optimus and currently on Pay As you Go, how can i stop the phone or applications connecting to the internet through the mobile as this often takes credit off my phone when connecting?

click on the applications button, then click settings, wireless and network, mobile network, click disable, also under mobile network go into mobile network setting and untick data romping, and tick use 2G networks.
